The Stewards, Royal Calcutta Turf Club, take the opportunity to welcome all our patrons for  the running of THE HPSL CALCUTTA MONSOON DERBY (2024) GRADE II this Sunday, 6th October, 2024.  This is the 30th running of the Monsoon Derby after TOO HOT TO TOUCH claimed the inaugural running.  We also take the opportunity to thank our sponsors M/s HPSL Sports & Leisure Private Limited (HPSL) and its Director Mr. Suresh Paladugu.

A message from our Chairman, Mr. Sudipto Sarkar “We would like to invite our patrons to enjoy a fun afternoon with their family and friends on this Derby Day and I would like to specially thank Mr. Paladugu and HPSL for their generous sponsorship during the Calcutta Monsoon Meeting 2024.  I am sure this partnership will continue during the forthcoming Calcutta Cold Weather Season 2024-2025.  We would also like to wish all our patrons “A Very Happy Durga Puja”.

Mr. Suresh Paladugu, Director HPSL stated “It’s an honor to be part of this journey with Royal Calcutta Turf Club and I personally thank the entire management for the support extended.  We see RCTC as a strategic partner in our HPSL journey and plan to work closely with the management and take this relationship ahead with a mutual benefit.  It’s time the entire industry worked closely to revive the legacy and bring new life to the equestrian sports industry.”

We expect a field of seven runners for the Derby and the prestigious Monsoon Cup run over 2000 metres will be the added attraction for the day.  The winner’s purse for the HPSL Monsoon Derby is expected to be close to INR 30 lakhs.

 

The Club has added an amount of Rs. 2,00,000/- (Net) to the Jackpot Pool collection of Kolkata races to be held on Sunday, 6th October, 2024.  Further, an amount of Rs. 50,000/- (Net) each will also be added to the 2nd and 3rd Treble events of the Kolkata Races.

We hope the patrons will enjoy the lip smacking food being dished out in the food court and we also  expect to see our Members visit the Race Course  this Sunday.  The HPSL “Pick Six” is yet to be cracked and we wish our Members all the very best for an afternoon of thrills and enjoyment.

PRESS RELEASE

Stewards, Royal Calcutta Turf Club are pleased to announce the commencement of the Calcutta Cold Weather Season 2019-2020 from Saturday, 2nd November, 2019

The Meeting will comprise of 25 race days and will conclude on 28th March, 2020There are approximately 178 races including 67 Cup races, scheduled to be run during these 5 months.

The Club presently has  418  horses in station which includes 120 two-year-olds.  A  further number of horses are expected to arrive in station during the Season. 

As decided by the Turf Authorities of India there will be free movement between various racing centres in India of horses rated 67 and above at the centre where they last raced.

18 Trainers and 21 Jockeys have been issued ‘A licenses and at the moment there are 31 ‘B’ licenses Jockeys and 7 apprentices who will be seen in action.

A number of outstation Trainers have shown interest in racing their charges in Sweepstakes races during the season which should make racing more competitive.

PRIZES

The advertised stake money for the Season is Rs. 880,39,300/-.  A further sum of Rs. 16,30,000/- is the value of Cups and Trophies.

Stewards, Royal Calcutta Turf Club are pleased to announce the commencement of the Calcutta Cold Weather Season 2017-2018 from  Wednesday, 1st November, 2017.

 

The RCTC will be hosting the Invitation Cup 2018 weekend which is scheduled to be run on Saturday, 3rd  and Sunday, 4th March, 2018.

 

The Meeting will comprise of 25 race days and will conclude on 29th March, 2018There are approximately 164 races, excluding the Invitation Cup Weekend races, scheduled to be run during these 5 months.

 

For the benefit of the Owners, the RCTC has introduced stakes for the 5th place runner and this will be paid in all races except for sweepstakes races and sponsored races where the stakes exceed Rs. 6.30 lakhs subject to the condition that the number of actual starters in a race are 8 or more. 

 

An incentive of 10% of the advertised stakes will be given to local owners (residing in the State of West Bengal) whose horses are under the care of ‘A’ licensed trainers and which have earned stakes in a race.  This will not be payable for sponsored/sweepstakes races and races where the total stakes exceed Rs. 6.30 lakhs.  There will be no deduction by way of trainers and jockeys commission on the above incentive.

 

The Club presently has approximately 484  horses in station including 115 two-year-olds.  A  further number of horses are expected to arrive in station to compete during the Season.
