NOTICE
SCHEME FOR INWARD MOVEMENT OF HORSES
CALCUTTA RACING SEASON 2026-2027
- ‘A’ licensed Trainers
- Horses 4 years to 7 years old, Rated 15 & above at the centre where they last raced and which have placed 1st or 2nd or 3rd or 4th at least once since April 2024 are permitted to be brought into RCTC with immediate effect.
- Three year old horses are permitted to be brought in under this scheme provided they have a valid Starting Stall Certificate which must be produced at the time of applying for such horses.
- A stable entry fee of Rs. 5000/- per horse under the charge of ‘A’ licensed trainers will be charged to the owners on arrival of the horse into RCTC.
- Trainers are eligible to stable NOT more than 70 horses (excluding 2 year olds during the Monsoon Meeting) and NOT more than 70 horses (including 2 year olds during the Cold Weather Season).
- ‘B’ Licensed Trainers
Horses trained by ‘B’ licensed trainers are permitted to race during the Calcutta Racing Season 2026-27 as under:
- In Classic & Sweepstakes races.
- Horses 3 years to 7 years old, Rated 47 & above at the centre where they last raced and which have placed 1st or 2nd or 3rd or 4th at least once since April 2024. Any such horse which drops below a Rating of 47 after racing in Kolkata will not be permitted to race at RCTC.
Horses trained by ‘B’ licensed Trainers which are already stationed at RCTC will be exempted from this condition. However, 3-year-olds which are already in station will not be permitted to participate in the “maiden races”.
- Horses 4 years to 7 years old, Rated 27 - 46 will be permitted to participate in races run over 1600 metres and over only. Trainers may accordingly bring in their charges.
- Not more than 24 horses per ‘B’ licensed trainer, including horses entered for Sweepstakes/ Classic races will be permitted.
- ‘B’ licensed Trainers are permitted to bring in not more than eight (8) 2-year-olds within the above limit of 24 horses to the RCTC for racing at Kolkata for the Season 2026-2027.
- A Stable entry fee of Rs 20,000 per horse under the charge of ‘B’ licensed trainers will be charged on arrival of the horse into RCTC premises.
- A charge of Rs. 5,000/- per horse per month will be levied towards development charges.
- A horse cannot be transferred from an ‘A’ licensed Trainer to a ‘B’ licensed Trainer during the course of the season unless the horse has been sold to an owner training with the ‘B’ licensed Trainer.
- An owner can train maximum with two Trainers only including 'B' licensed Trainers. Only horses entered for Classics/Sweepstakes races are exempted from this Rule but such horses will not be allowed to race in ordinary Handicap races. However, the Stewards may permit an owner to train horses with more than two trainers in case they have only part ownership in such horses. The Stewards’ decision in such cases, shall be final and binding.
- 5% of all stakes will be debited to owners of horses under the charge of ‘B’ licensed Trainers and transferred to the account of Race Horse & Stable Employees Welfare Society towards the Gratuity Fund.
- All applications to be vetted by the Racing Department and the Stewards reserve the right to reject any application without assigning any reason.
- Horses under the charge of ‘B’ licensed Trainers will have to vacate the RCTC premises at the conclusion of the racing Season 2026-2027.
