RAFFLES (C Alford) stumbled and went down on its knees soon after jumping out of the starting gates.

CREDIT EASE (Asghar) was slow to begin losing considerable ground at the start.  In view of its behaviour Tr. Bharath Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.

On jumping out of its stall LAKE STORM (Sk Israil) refused to raise a fluent gallop for some distance.  In view of its behavior Tr. Bharath Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.

Approaching the 400 metres GOLIATH (M F Ali Khan) received severe interference and was momentarily unbalanced.  At a subsequent enquiry it was established that Jockey C Alford (RAFFLES) attempting to make quick progress between the rails and GOLIATH was the cause for the incident, as such, Jockey C Alford was fined a sum of Rs. 2,500/- for careless riding in that he attempted to make a run when there was insufficient room to do so.  Further the Stipendiary Stewards enquired from Jockey C Alford, the rider of RAFFLES, as to why he eased  his mount  in the final 150 metres of the race.  The jockey stated that the filly was not striding fluently and hence he did not put her under pressure.  The filly was impounded for veterinary examination.  On examination the Veterinary Officer reported that RAFFLES (C Alford) returned with bleeding cut injury on her right stifle fold.  Tr. Vijay Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.

4th RACE (25) THE WHISPERING GRASS HANDICAP. For Maiden Horses 3 years old only – Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible - To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1400 Metres (3.15/3.20) : 9 runners

Approaching the 800 metres HAPPY PRINCESS (Md. Imran) travelling on the rails received severe interference from SECRET VISIT (C Alford) and when checked by its jockey shifted ‘outwards’ thereby causing CLASSICAL ROMANCE (Shailesh Shinde) travelling behind to take evasive action.  Some distance thereafter HARNESS FREE (M Maseyk) was checked by its jockey and shifted ‘outwards’ to avoid clipping the heels of ZAKIYAH (Pradeep Kumar) thereby causing ARABICA (S Zervaan) travelling on its outside to be also checked  by its jockey and lose some ground.  At a subsequent enquiry into the two incidents it was established that Jockey Pradeep Kumar, the rider of ZAKIYAH shifted ‘in’ when not adequately clear of SECRET VISIT (C Alford) which was then carried inwards into the path of  HAPPY PRINCESS travelling along the rails.  In the second instance it was also established that Jockey Pradeep Kumar was  responsible by now shifting ‘outwards’ into the path of HARNESS FREE (M Maseyk).  The Stipendiary Stewards were of the opinion that since they had earlier reprimanded Jockey Pradeep Kumar (Race No. 16) for repeatedly changing course, they would be reporting him to the Stewards for appropriate action.  The result of this enquiry would be announced later.

ROMAN CENTURION (I Khan) was carried wide without cover while rounding the bend.

5th RACE (26) THE FLYING GLANCE HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 40-65, Rated 20-45 eligible (About) 1400 Metres (3.45/3.56) : 8 runners

SOKUDO (S Zervaan) arrived late at the starting gate thereby delaying the start of the race.

An objection was lodged by App Shezad Khan, the rider of SECRET LOVE placed 2nd by the Judge against Jockey S Zervaan, the rider of SOKUDO placed 1st by the Judge on the grounds of “in the last 50 metres he came in sharply and I had to stop riding which cost me a certain race”.  The Stewards after having interviewed  both the jockeys, viewing the CCTV replay of the race and taking into consideration the opinion expressed by the Stipendiary Stewards, resolved to over-rule the objection, Judge’s placings remaining unaltered.  Further, Jockey S Zervaan was reprimanded for failing to maintain a straight course during  the concluding stages of the race.

6th RACE (27) THE  RELIABLE TROPHY – For Horses 4 years old and over (About) 1200 Metres (4.15/4.30) : 8 runners

N I L

7th RACE (28) THE FAIR MONA HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible (About) 1200 Metres (4.45/5.02) : 10 runners

b c RAANA (M F Ali Khan) was very fractious and despite repeated attempts refused to be stalled.  Under the circumstances the colt was withdrawn with the permission of the Stewards before coming under Starter’s orders.  The Starting Stall Certificate of RAANA has been revoked by the Starter.

Approaching the 400 metres CHERISH THE MOMENT (I Khan) clipped the heels of SILENCIO (Md Imran), stumbled and shifted ‘outwards’ thereby losing considerable ground.  At a subsequent enquiry Jockey Md Imran  was fined a sum of Rs. 2,500/- for careless riding in that he shifted ‘inwards’ when not adequately clear of the other runner.

Jockey Pintu Das, the rider of I VE DONE IT, was fined a sum of Rs. 1,000/- for the indifferent handling of his mount in the final 200 metres of the race.

Jockey S Domingo, the rider of GENEROSITY, when afforded an opportunity to explain the running and riding of his mount stated that he was instructed to place his mount in a handy position in the early and middle stages of the race and thereafter to do his best without resorting to the unnecessary use of the whip.  With respect to his riding he informed that he rode to the best of his ability.  On being questioned as to why he repeatedly looked back between the final  400 and 200 metres, he could give no plausible explanation and he apologized for the same.  The Stipendiary Stewards informed him that in future he should ride mounts in such a manner that leaves no room for query and fined him a sum of Rs. 1,000/- for the undesirable practice of repeatedly looking back between the final 400 and 200 metres of the race for no apparent reason.
