MONSOON  MEETING, NINTH DAY, SATURDAY, 27TH AUGUST, 2011

1st RACE (57) THE DANCING LEAVES HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 00-25 – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 2000 Metres (1.45/1.45) : 10 runners

 

            For accepting with his charge b f VAANI to run in the above race whilst under medication, Tr. Jasbir Singh was fined a sum of Rs. 2,000/-.  Consequently the filly was not declared to start.   The Stipendiary Stewards further advised Tr. Jasbir Singh to be more attentive to his duties failing which he would be reported to the Stewards for appropriate action.

 

            INCANTATION (App Md. Sameer), FLYING WONDER (M F Ali Khan) and  SECRET HERO (Vinay Jaiswal) were slow to begin losing about two lengths at the start.

 

            Jockey Shailesh Shinde  when afforded an opportunity to explain the running and riding of his mount b c CLASSICAL ROMANCE stated that he was instructed to place his mount at the head of the field if he was able to do so, if not, to place his mount behind the early leaders and to do his best thereafter.  He further informed that passing the 800 metres marker the colt began to tire and gradually fell back to the rear of the field passing the 400 metres and that the colt returned to the unsaddling enclosure under distress.  Tr. Bharath Singh under whose charge CLASSICAL ROMANCE ran when questioned stated that :-

 

a)                  The colt was extremely dry coated.

b)                  The stable did not fancy the chances of the colt in the race and he was surprised that his charge was the public favourite.

 

The colt was impounded for veterinary and clinical examinations.  On examination the Veterinary Officer reported that the colt appeared to be in distress.  In view of the above the Stipendiary Stewards informed Tr. Bharath Singh not to accept with his charge again unless it performs to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.  Further, Jockey Shailesh Shinde was reprimanded for the use of whip on his mount when it was clearly not responding to his urgings. 

 

            App Md. Sameer, the rider of INCANTATION, was fined a sum of Rs. 3,000/- for excessive use of the whip (2nd offence) on his mount and further a sum of Rs. 2,000/- for the improper use of the whip.  App Md. Sameer was once again ordered to report to the Jockey Coach for corrective measures and further informed that his continued disdain to the authorities’ advice regarding the use of the whip and his total disregard to the well being of the animal would entail him severe punishment.

 

            KAMAKAZI (Pradeep Kumar) was observed to run an erratic course through out the race.  At a subsequent enquiry  the Stipendiary Stewards cautioned Jockey Pradeep Kumar to make every effort to keep his mount on an even course and once again was advised to report to the Jockey Coach for corrective measures. 

 

            Jockey Pradeep Kumar, the rider of KAMAKAZI, reported that he lost his whip approaching the distance post. 

 

2nd RACE (58) THE VASTO HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses 5 years old and over – Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible - To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1400 Metres (2.15/2.20) : 8 runners

 

 

            BEST BET (R Marshall) was re-saddled at the start.

 

            BRAVO ITALIANO (Vinay Jaiswal) which was fractious while being stalled was slow to begin losing approximately two lengths at the start.

 

            dk b g BADAL (Afzal Khan) trailed the field home.  The gelding was impounded for veterinary examination.  On examination the Veterinary Officer reported that the gelding pulled up lame on its right fore.  Tr. Vikash Jaiswal was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer and permission  be obtained from the Stipendiary Stewards.

 

3rd RACE (59) THE STONEY VALLEY HANDICAP – For Maiden Horses 3 years old only – Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible (About) 1000 Metres (2.45/2.54) : 12 runners

 

            IMPERIAL DELIGHT (C Alford) and CRADOC (Sk Israil) were fractious while being stalled.

 

            PHLOX (Shailesh Shinde) was fractious in its stall.

           

            GOLDEN SQUARE (Vinay Jaiswal) was slow to begin.

 

            App Mohit Singh, the rider of STAR SUCCESS and App Shezad Khan, the rider of QUENTIN DERWARD, reported that the saddle on their mounts shifted back approaching the 600 metres as such they were unable to ride their mounts to complete advantage.  Trs. Jasbir Singh and J Stephens were fined a sum of Rs. 1,000/- each for faulty saddling.

 

4th RACE (60) THE BALLET MASTER HANDICAP - A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1200 Metres (3.15/3.26) : 12 runners

 

            GLENBERVIE (Nelson Maseyk) was fractious while being stalled.

 

            LITE LITE (Shailesh Shinde) was fractious in its stall.

 

            SARTAJ (Russell Xaviers) was slow to begin losing considerable ground at the start.  Tr. Jasbir Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until passed fit in a  barrier trial held during the hours of morning track work.

 

            Jockey Russell Xaviers, the rider of SARTAJ, was reprimanded for allowing his mount to travel wide while rounding the bend for no apparent reason.

 

            App Vikash Tamang, the rider of XAVIER, was fined a sum of Rs. 1,000/- for excessive use of the whip on his mount (1st offence) and advised to report to the Jockey Coach for corrective measures.

 

5th RACE (61) THE ARCADE TROPHY – A Handicap for Horses Rated 80 & above, Rated 60-85 eligible (About) 1200 Metres (3.45/3.55) : 7 runners

 

            ASIATIC STAR (N S Parmar) was fractious while being stalled.

 

            SPITZ (M F Ali Khan) fly jumped from the gates.

 

            App Mohit Singh, the rider of MUMTAZ, was reprimanded for shifting ‘in’ soon after the start.

 

            CROCODILE HUNTER (B Mahesh) ran detached from the field.  In view of its performance Tr. Rutherford Alford was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.

 

6th RACE (62) THE FRIENDLY DANCER HANDICAP - A Handicap for Horses Rated 40-65, Rated 20-45 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1400 Metres (4.15/4.26) : 9 runners

 

For failing to produce the registered colours of the owners in respect of his charge ALEXANDER HELIOS, Tr. D Byramji was fined a sum of Rs. 325/-, subsequently ‘ALL BLACK’ emergency colours were permitted to be used.

 

            ch g ANDROLOGY (Gajender Singh) was fractious and refused to be stalled.  Under the circumstances the gelding was withdrawn with the permission of the Stewards before coming under Starter’s orders.  The Starting Stall Certificate of the gelding has been revoked by the Starter.

 

            AUCKLEY (Vinay Jaiswal)  was slow to begin.      

 

            The Veterinary Officer reported that AUCKLEY returned bleeding from both nostrils.  Tr. Shafiq Khan deputizing for Tr.  Sarfaraz Khan was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.

 

7th RACE (63) THE KIPLING HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 60-85, Rated 40-65 eligible (About) 1400 Metres (4.45/5.07) : 9 runners

 

            ALPHA BABY (M Mark) which was being led to the start arrived late thereby considerably delaying the start of the race.  Tr. D R Byramji was fined a sum of Rs. 2,500/- for this lapse and advised to get his charge adequately schooled before next accepting with it.

 

            b g AWESOME INDIAN (S Rabbani) was fractious in its stall, broke open the front gates and in the process sustained severe cut injuries on its right fore.  Under the circumstances the gelding was withdrawn with the permission of the Stewards before coming under Starter’s orders.  The Starting Stall Certificate of the gelding has been revoked by the Starter.  Tr. Bharath Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.

 

            MARTINIQUE (N S Parmar) was fractious while being stalled.

 

            IMPRESSIVE WISH (Salim Khan) was slow to begin.

 

            ROCKET BALL (Jugnu Gurung) swerved ‘outwards’ immediately after the start and trailed the field thereafter.  In view of its performance Tr. Vijay Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.

 

            The Stewards held an enquiry immediately after the running of the race with particular reference to the riding of Jockey N S Parmar on b f MARTINIQUE placed 2nd by the Judge.  After due enquiry the Stewards were satisfied that the placings as announced by the Judge would remain unaltered, as such the ‘ALL CLEAR’ signal was given.  However, the Stewards continued with the enquiry into the riding of Jockey N S Parmar in that on entering the straight and when clear of the field he failed to alert his mount in time to its task and for reasons best known to him repeatedly looked behind.  At the conclusion of the enquiry the jockey pleaded guilty to riding an over confident race and therefore was charged under Rule 161(ii) (injudicious riding).  When deciding on the penalty to be imposed on the rider, the Stewards taking into consideration the points of mitigation and his record, decided to suspend him from riding in races from 6th September to 14th September, 2011 (both days inclusive).  The jockey was informed of his right to appeal.

 

G E N E R A L

 

1.                  Random testing for the presence of alcohol in respect of Jockeys R Marshall & M Mark was carried out and found to be clear.

 

2.                  Urine samples.  Urine samples from the following horses were taken for clinical analysis :-

 

            CLASSICAL ROMANCE & GLORIOUS DANCER                    -           1st  Race.

                        FLYING JAGUAR                                                                            -           4th Race.

                        MUMTAZ                                                                                          -           5th Race.

 

3.         On the morning of 28th August, 2011, ch g HOLYHEAD was examined by the Sr. Veterinary Officer and found to be lame on left fore.  Tr. Bharath Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit  by the Sr. Veterinary Officer.
