AUTUMN  MEETING, SIXTH DAY, 26TH NOVEMBER, 2011

No False rails were in position

 

1st RACE (33) THE ARAKAWA PLATE  - For Maiden Horses 2 years old only (About) 1100 Metres (12.15/12.15) : 4 runners

 

            b c HURRICANE STAR (P Trevor) was examined by the Veterinary Officer at the starting gate and found to be lame on  left fore.  Under the circumstances the colt was withdrawn with the permission of the Stewards before coming under Starter’s orders.  Tr. Bharath Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.

 

            Jockey Gajender Singh, the rider of TENNESSEE WALTZ, was severely reprimanded for failing to improve his position in the early and middle stages of the race when he had every opportunity to do so.

 

2nd RACE (34) THE MAGIC MANTRA HANDICAP Div I – A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible, which were stationed in Kolkata as on 12.07.2011 (About) 1200 Metres (12.45/12.45) : 9 runners

 

            ACCOAST (Surjeet Singh) which was fractious in its stall, was slow to begin losing approximately 4 lengths at the start.  In view of its behavior Tr. R Gowli was advised not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a barrier trial during the hours of morning track work.

 

3rd RACE (35) THE MAGIC MANTRA HANDICAP Div II – A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible, which were stationed in Kolkata as on 12.07.2011 (About) 1200 Metres (1.15/1.15) : 9 runners

 

            ARCTIC FORCE (Gajender Singh) and LA DOMINIQUE (Md Islam) were slow to begin losing approximately two lengths at the start.

 

Approaching the 900 metres ch f LA DOMINIQUE (Md Islam) travelling on the far side was severely checked by its rider and lost ground when b f LAKE SUNRISE (Martin J Dwyer) violently shifted ‘outwards’  Subsequently LAKE SUNRISE finished the race detached from the field.  At a subsequent enquiry Jockey Martin J Dwyer reported that the filly threw her head up, took hold of the bit and dived ‘outwards’ despite his best efforts to keep her on an even course.  The bridle of the filly and its attachments were checked after running of the race and found to be otherwise well fitted, hence no further action was taken beyond informing  Tr. Bharath Singh to get his charge LAKE SUNRISE checked by the Veterinary Officer and not to accept with it in a race until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.

 

4th RACE (36) THE SIMPLY SENSATIONAL HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible (About) 2000 Metres (1.45/1.47) : 11 runners

 

            APYROUS (B Gurang) and REGAL BEARING (Vinay Jaiswal) were fractious while being stalled.

 

            At a Stipendiary Stewards’ enquiry into the running of b f MAMA MOREMBO  Jockey N S Parmar, the rider  and Tr. P Shroff were interviewed.  At the conclusion of the enquiry Jockey N S Parmar was found guilty to the charge of “injudicious” handling of his mount in that he failed to improve his position between the 900 and 600 metres of the race when he had every opportunity to do so.   When deciding on the penalty, the Stipendiary Stewards  took into consideration their earlier reprimands to the rider for a similar manner of riding and decided to fine him a sum of Rs. 5,000/- for the injudicious handling of his mount.  Tr. P Shroff was advised to adequately instruct his rider about the necessity to keep his charges well positioned during crucial stages of a race.

 

            App Mohit Singh, the rider of STAR SUCCESS, was reprimanded for travelling wide while rounding the bend for no apparent reason.

 

 

 

 

5th RACE (37) THE  CAVALRY CUP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 00-25 (About) 1200 Metres (2.15/2.20) : 14 runners

 

            CLASSICAL ROMANCE (P Trevor), ABAYA (Afzal Khan) and VAANI (Md Imran) were fractious while being stalled thereby delaying the start of the race.

 

            Jockey Afzal Khan, the rider of ABAYA, when afforded an opportunity to explain the running of his mount, stated that the mare was not striding fluently during the middle and final stages of the race and had a tendency to hang ‘out’ throughout the race thereby compelling him to ease his mount during the concluding stages of the race.  The mare was impounded for veterinary examination and on examination the Veterinary Officer reported that no ailment was noticed.  In view of its performance, Tr. Javed Khan was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.

 

6th RACE (38) THE BENGAL AREA CUP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 40-65, Rated 20-45 eligible (About) 1400 Metres (2.45/2.55) :  9 runners

 

            CATCHPHRASE (P Trevor), ALIENATION (N S Parmar), ROYAL BLUE STAR (C Alford) and RITHAMBHRA (App Mohit Singh) were fractious while being stalled.

 

            FLAMINGO FANTASY (I Khan) was slow to begin losing approximately two lengths at the start.

 

            Jockey M F Ali Khan, the rider of ch g BEETHOVEN, when afforded an opportunity to explain the running of his mount, stated that he was instructed to be positioned 5th/6th and do his best in the straight, however, in spite of his best efforts the gelding refused to raise a fluent gallop in the final 400 metres of the race.  The gelding was impounded for veterinary examination and  on examination the Veterinary Officer reported that no ailment was noticed.  In view of its performance Tr. Shafiq Khan was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.

 

7th RACE (39) THE DESERT FORCE HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 60-85, Rated 40-65 eligible (About) 1400 Metres (3.15/3.31) : 13 runners

 

            The left fore shoe of b c SECRET REWARD was observed to have splayed (shifted position) before the start of the race.  As there was insufficient time for the colt to be reshod, it was withdrawn with the permission of the Stewards before coming under Starter’s orders.

 

            CON ARTISTE (Martin J Dwyer), QUEEN VIC (App Shezad Khan) and ROCKET BALL (App Arman Khan) were fractious while being stalled.

 

            ROCKET BALL (App Arman Khan) was slow to begin losing approximately two lengths at the start.

 

            CAIRNDHU (N S Parmar) was slow to begin losing considerable ground at the start.  In view of its behavior Tr. Bharath Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.

 

            Approaching the 600 metres AMOR AMOR (P Trevor) travelling along the rails was checked by its rider and lost ground when squeezed for room by SUPERIOR QUEST (B Gurang).  At a subsequent enquiry Jockey B Gurang was cautioned and advised to take remedial measures to improve his riding and was ordered to report to Mr. N Bird, the Jockey Coach for appropriate corrective measures.

 

8th RACE (40) THE CALCUTTA 1000 GUINEAS (2011)(Grade III) – For Indian Fillies 3 years old only (About) 1600 Metres (3.45/4.11) : 9 runners

 

            TWO IN ONE (Y S Srinath) was fractious while being stalled.

 

            Approaching the 400 metres SECRECY (C Alford) was momentarily eased by its rider due to the crowding of the field.

 

 

9th RACE (41) THE ALLOSAKI HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 40-65, Rated 20-45 eligible (About) 1100 Metres (4.15/4.37) : 12 runners

 

            WHISTLING STRAIT (Neeraj Rawal) and PHLOX (Shailesh Shinde) were fractious while being stalled.

 

            GIOCOMETTI (App Kishen Singh, drawn 4) which was slow to begin, was inconvenienced soon after the start  when SEA WARRIOR (Sk Israil, drawn 3) jumped awkwardly ‘outwards’.

 

            Jockey Md. Islam, the rider of  POLARISER, was fined a sum of Rs. 3,000/- for excessive use of the whip on his mount (2nd offence).

 

G E N E R A L

 

1.      Random testing for the presence of alcohol in respect of Jockeys Martin J Dwyer, Ladjadj Stephane,  Dashrath Singh, App Md. Azharuddin and  App Ravi Singh was carried out and found to be clear.

  1. Urine samples.  Urine samples from the following horses were taken for clinical analysis :-
