MONSOON  MEETING, FIFTEENTH DAY, WEDNESDAY, 21ST  SEPTEMBER, 2011

False rails were in position from about 1200 to about 400 metres

 

1st RACE (100) THE AMAZING HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses 5 years old and over – Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1000 Metres (1.45/1.45) :  6 runners

 

            BLACK FALCON (App Shezad Khan) was slow to begin.

 

            In the concluding stages of the race MOMENT OF LOVE (App Vikash Tamang) was momentarily inconvenienced when SUCCESSFUL (App Mohit Singh) drifted ‘outwards’. 

 

            The Veterinary Officer reported that BLACK FALCON and SUCCESSFUL returned bleeding from their both nostrils.  Trs. H S Bath and Jasbir Singh were informed not to accept with their respective charges until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.

 

2nd RACE (101) THE CHERYL HANDICAP - A Handicap for Horses  Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1200 Metres (2.15/2.15) : 6 runners

 

            The Stewards held an enquiry immediately after the running of the race with particular reference to the start of b g SARTAJ ridden by App Mohit Singh and after due enquiry they being satisfied that the start was fair, the ‘all clear’ signal was given.  Further the Stewards ordered the Stipendiary Stewards to enquire into the subsequent indifferent riding of App Mohit Singh.  The Stipendiary Stewards interviewed Tr. Jasbir Singh and App Mohit Singh and after due enquiry informed Tr. Jasbir Singh that his charges should run and be ridden in such a manner that leaves no room for query and fined App Mohit Singh a sum of Rs. 5,000/- for the indifferent handling of his mount in that while negotiating the final bend he allowed his mount to travel wide for no apparent reason and in the final 400 metres he failed to infuse adequate vigour to his riding.

 

3rd RACE (102) THE CHIANTI HANDICAP - A Handicap for Horses  Rated 00-25  – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1800 Metres (2.45/2.48) :  7 runners

 

            b m KEEP GOING (Vinay Jaiswal) was fractious and refused to be stalled.  Under the circumstances the mare was withdrawn with the permission of the Stewards before coming under Starter’s orders.  The Starting Stall Certificate of the mare has been revoked by the Starter.

 

            HOT IRON (M F Ali Khan) was fractious while being stalled.

 

            XENA (Md Islam) drifted ‘outwards’ soon after jumping out of the gates.

 

            Approaching the 800 metres HOT IRON (M F Ali Khan) travelling along the rails was inconvenienced when XENA (Md. Islam) shifted ‘inwards’.

 

            Tr. Bharath Singh when questioned regarding the improved performance of his charge b f HAPPY PRINCESS, the winner of this race, as compared to its previous run in Race No. 69 held on 30th August, 2011 where it ran unplaced, stated that the filly which was a disappointment thus far

seemed to have improved considerably when he, under the advice of the Club’s consultant Veterinary Doctor, used the additional equipment of tongue strap and cross nose band and further the filly today was racing with competitors placed in a lower category which was also advantageous to his charge’s improved performance .  The Stipendiary Stewards  noted his explanations.

 

4th RACE (103) THE BERGAMO HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 60-85, Rated 40-65 eligible (About) 1200 Metres (3.15/3.16) : 7 runners

 

            AXIOLOGY (Salim Khan) and DANTE ROSSETTI (Md. Imran) were slow to begin losing approximately 2 lengths at the start.

 

            Jockey Md. Imran, the rider of DANTE ROSSETTI, was fined a sum of Rs. 1,000/- for the indiscriminate (i.e., rapidly without regard to the stride of the animal) use of whip on his mount soon after jumping out of the gates.

 

            b f SECRET FIRE (Surjeet Singh) ran detached from the field.  The filly was impounded for veterinary examination.  On examination the Veterinary Officer reported that no ailment was noticed.  Tr. Bath was informed not to accept with the filly until it was capable of a better performance.

 

5th RACE (104) THE SREEPRIYA HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 40-65, Rated 20-45 eligible (About) 1100 Metres (3.45/3.50) : 9 runners

 

            There was a heavy down pour before the start of the race.

 

            FOCUS (N S Parmar) was fractious while being stalled.  Jockey N S Parmar was severely reprimanded for the use of whip on his mount prior to it entering the starting stall.  The jockey was further informed that the repetition of a similar incident would entail him to severe disciplinary action.

 

            ACCARDO (Pintu Das) which jumped awkwardly from the gates, shied ‘outwards’ and bumped FOCUS (N S Parmar), momentarily unbalancing its rider.

 

            Some distance after the start ch g AVESCO (M F Ali Khan) was eased up by its jockey who soon dismounted.    On  Subsequent examination the Veterinary Officer reported that the gelding was found to be lame on its left hind.  Tr. D M David was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.

 

            Approaching the 400 metres FOCUS (N S Parmar) was carried wide by ACCARDO (Pintu Das).

 

            EXCLUSIVITY (Md Islam) ran detached from the field.  Tr. Jasbir Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until it was capable of a better performance.

 

6th RACE (105) THE ALIBI TROPHY – A Handicap for Horses Rated 80 & above, Rated 60-85 eligible (About) 2000 Metres (4.15/4.17) :  7 runners

 

            Tr. Vijay Singh when afforded an opportunity to explain the running of his charge  ch g HALL OF GLORY, stated that since the gelding was now running over a longer distance he had instructed the jockey to be positioned at the rear of the field during the early stages of the race and thereafter to gradually improve his position.  However, in spite of the jockey working hard on his mount passing the 800 metres his charge was unable to improve adequately and that there was no hard luck story in the defeat of his runner.   The Stipendiary Stewards while noting his explanations informed the trainer that it is his responsibility to notify the Stipendiary Stewards that his charge would be ridden in a manner different from the manner in which the horse was ridden at its most recent start or starts and should he fail to do so in future, he would be reported to the Stewards for appropriate action.

 

            FLY BY WIRE (M F Ali Khan) ran detached from the field.  Tr. Rutherford Alford was informed not to accept with his charge until it was capable of a better performance.

 

            App Shezad Khan, the rider of WORK FORCE, was fined a sum of Rs. 3.000/- for excessive use of the whip (2nd offence) on his mount.

 

7th RACE (106) THE ELISTANO HANDICAP – For Maiden Horses 3 years old only – Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1000 Metres (4.45/4.52) : 9  runners

 

            b g GOLDEN SQUARE (Russell Xaviers) was fractious and refused to be stalled.  Under the circumstances the gelding was withdrawn with the permission of the Stewards before coming under Starter’s orders.  The Starting Stall Certificate of the gelding has been revoked by the Starter.

 

            ROMANTIC LAD (Surjeet Singh) was slow to begin.

 

G E N E R A L

 

1.                  Random testing for the presence of alcohol in respect of Jockeys Md Imran, M F Ali Khan, Shailesh Shinde and App Vikash Tamang was carried out and found to be clear.

 

2.                  Urine samples.  Urine samples from the following horses were taken for clinical analysis :-

 

            HAPPY PRINCESS and OUR LITTLE ANGEL                -           3rd Race.

                        SHERSHAH                                                                          -           4th Race.

                        RISING HERO                                                                      -           6th Race.

 

3.         On the morning of Thursday, 22nd September, 2011 b g SWISS KING was examined by the         Veterinary Officer and found to have sustained cut injuries on both hinds.
