WINTER MEETING, FIFTH  DAY SATURDAY, 21ST  JANUARY, 2012

1st RACE (134) THE ANDRENO HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 40-65, Rated 20-45 eligible (About) 1400 Metres (1.15/1.15) : 5 runners

 

            ROCKET BALL (A M Tograllu) stood flat footed as the start was effected thereby losing considerable ground at the start.  Tr. D M David was informed not to accept with his charge until passed  by the Stipendiary Stewards in a barrier trial during the hours of morning track work.

 

            Jockey Imran Khan, the rider of CHIEF JUSTICE, reported the loss of whip approaching the 400 metres.

 

2nd RACE (135) THE racingpulse.in TROPHY - A Handicap for Horses Rated 40-65, Rated 20-45 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1600 Metres (1.45/1.45) :  8 runners

 

            Approaching the 700 metres COOL CAT (A Sandesh) brushed against the railings.

 

            Jockey A Sandesh, the rider of COOL CAT, when afforded an opportunity to explain the running of his charge stated that he was instructed to ride his mount in ‘check’ and to do his best thereafter, however, due to the crowding of the field in the early stages of the race, he found himself further back in the field than he intended to.  The Stipendiary Stewards after repeatedly viewing the CCTV replay of the race in the presence of the rider informed him that in this instance he was  being given the benefit of doubt and that should he ride in a similar manner in future, he would be reported to the Stewards for ‘injudicious riding’.  Trainer Ms. Arti Doctor, deputizing for Tr. I Sait, was informed accordingly.

 

3rd RACE (136) THE VIJAY SICKA MEMORIAL TROPHY – A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1600 Metres (2.15/2.15) : 7 runners

 

            FLAMINGO FANTASY (B Gurang) and ALEXANDER HELIOS (A M Tograllu) were slow to begin losing about two lengths each at the start.

 

            The helmet worn by Jockey B Gurang, the rider of FLAMINGO FANTASY,  got unfastened during the running of the race and fell off approaching the distance post.  Jockey B Gurang was fined a sum of Rs. 1,000/- for the use of unserviceable equipment.

 

            Jockey I Khan, the rider of  b m PERSERVERANCE , was severely reprimanded in the presence of Tr. D M David for failing to improve his position in the early and middle stages of the race.  Tr. D M David  informed the Stipendiary Stewards that the mare would not be racing this season under the RCTC Rules of Racing and would be leaving station in the next couple of days.

 

            The Veterinary Officer reported that APYROUS returned bleeding from both nostrils.  Tr. D M David was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.

 

4th RACE (137) THE S S BALA MEMORIAL TROPHY – A Handicap for Horses Rated 80 & above, Rated 60-85 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1600 Metres (2.45/2.46) : 11 runners

 

            SECREACY (C Alford) was fractious while being stalled.

 

            ANGELO (Sk Israil) under pressure ran an erratic course in the final stages of the race.

 

5th RACE (138) THE INDIAN CHAMPAGNE STAKES – For Horses 3 years old only (About) 1400 Metres (3.15/3.21) : 10 runners

 

            STAR ALONE (N S Parmar) was reluctant to go to the starting gates, thereby delaying the proceedings of the race.  Tr. S Habbu deputising for Tr. P Shroff was advised to ensure that his charges reach in time to the starting gates in future.

 

 

6th RACE (139) THE CALCUTTA CHAMPIONS’  SPRINT TROPHY – For Horses 4 years old and over (About) 1200 Metres (3.45/3.52) : 11 runners

 

            ZILLIONAIRE (Shailesh Shinde) and AMOURESQUE (A Sandesh) were fractious while being stalled.

 

            Approaching the 700 metres AMOURESQUE (A Sandesh) was denied a clear run due to the crowding of the field.

 

7th RACE (140) THE AVALANCHE STAR PLATE – For Maiden Horses 3 years old only – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1100 Metres (4.15/4.24) : 11 runners

 

            HAPPY KINGDOM (Surjeet Singh), AMAZING SPEED (Shailesh Shinde) and GREEN PASTURE (Aadesh Kumar) were fractious while being stalled.

 

            GOOD ONE (Afzal Khan) and HURRICANE STAR (Suraj Narredu) were fractious in their respective stalls.

 

            HAPPY KINGDOM (Surjeet Singh, drawn 11) was carried ‘outwards’ by TIM TAM WAY (Gajender Singh, drawn 10) soon after the start.  Tr. Vikash Jaiswal, trainer of TIM TAM WAY, was advised to give his charge adequate gate practice before accepting with it again.

 

            Approaching the 800 and 700 metres, HUNDRED PIPERS (Ch K Chary) was denied a clear run due to the crowing of the field.

 

 G E N E R  A L

 

1.             Random testing for the presence of alcohol in respect of Jockeys B Gurang, B V Krishnan,  Ch K Chary and I Khan was carried out and found to be clear.

 

2.                  Urine samples.  Urine samples from the following horses were taken for clinical analysis :-

 

HADRIAN                                                                   -           3rd Race.

SECRECY                                                                   -           4th Race

SNOWSCAPE and SILVERINA                                  -           5th Race

EL TROPICO and CARIBBEAN QUEEN                   -           6th Race.

 

3.         Having ridden 40 winners, App Shezad Khan is not entitled to claim any allowance.

 

ADDITIONAL REPORT

WINTER MEETING, SECOND DAY 15TH  JANUARY, 2012

(POSTPONED FROM 8TH JANUARY, 2012

 

5th RACE (129) THE CHIANTI TROPHY – For Horses 3 years old only (About) 1200 Metres (2.10/2.15) : 9 runners

            At the conclusion of  an enquiry into the running and riding of  HUNDRED PIPERS, ridden by Jockey N S Parmar and trained by Mr. Rutherford Alford, the Stipendiary Stewards not being satisfied with the explanation tendered by Jockey N S Parmar, decided to fine him a sum of Rs. 5,000/- for unsatisfactory riding in that, soon after the start and during the middle stages of the race when in clear running, he failed to improve the position of his mount  despite having every opportunity to do so.  He was further informed  that in future should he ride in a similar manner, he would be reported to the Stewards for appropriate action.
