MONSOON  MEETING, TWENTYTHIRD DAY, WEDNESDAY 19TH OCTOBER, 2011

Penetrometer Reading : 1.1 Cms  : Good Going.

False rails were in position from about 1100 metres to about 400 metres.

 

1st RACE (153) THE ETHICS HANDICAP - A Handicap for Horses Rated 00-25, which have run at Kolkata having completed the course since 12th July, 2011 and have not won a race at any centre since that date – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1400 Metres (1.00/1.01) : 8 runners

 

            SUPREME CONQUEROR (Vinay Jaiswal) was fractious in its stall.

 

            APRIL EDITION (Shailesh Shinde) and HAREY PUTTER (Md. Islam) were slow to begin.

 

            ELUSIVE THOUGHT (C Alford) which was fractious while being stalled was slow to begin losing approximately three lengths at the start.  Tr. Vijay Singh was advised to give his charge adequate gate practice before accepting with it again.

 

.           SHESASTAR (S Sunil) planted losing considerable ground at the start.  In view of its behavior Tr. Javed Khan was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.

 

            b g SUPREME CONQUEROR (Vinay Jaiswal) which was well positioned in the early and middle stages completed the race detached from the field.  Jockey Vinay Jaiswal when afforded an opportunity to explain the performance of his mount stated that he was instructed to go to the front and on entering the straight to ride to the best of his ability, however, on entering the straight despite his best efforts the gelding gradually dropped to the rear of the field.  In view of its performance Tr. Vikash Jaiswal was informed to keep his charge under observation and report ailment, if any, and not to accept with the gelding until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.

 

2nd RACE (154) THE KARIBA HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 40-65, Rated 20-45 eligible (About) 2000 Metres (1.30/1.31) : 3 runners

 

 At the conclusion of the Stewards enquiry  held after the last race into the excessive use of the whip (4th offence) by App Mohit Singh on his mount b g AVON CREEK,   App Mohit Singh  was interviewed by the Stewards in the presence of his master trainer Mr. Jasbir Singh and pleaded guilty to the charge.  The Stewards resolved to withdraw the permission for the use of whip to App Mohit Singh  in races during the  Calcutta Cold Weather Season 2011-2012.

 

3rd RACE (155) THE ARTEMIS HANDICAP - A Handicap for Horses Rated 00-25 – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1100 Metres (2.00/2.01) :  9 runners

 

            CRADOC (Md Imran) was fractious while being stalled.

 

            PEPPERMINT (App Vikash Tamang) jumped awkwardly from the starting gates.

 

            AEROPOSTALE (N S Parmar) was slow to begin.

 

            Soon after the start SEACHANGE (Shailesh Shinde, drawn 5) was checked by its rider when squeezed for room between ALL TIME HIGH (I Khan, drawn 4) and CRADOC (Md Imran, drawn 6).  At a subsequent enquiry Jockeys Shailesh Shinde, I Khan, Md Imran and S Sunil, the rider of EMERALD QUEEN (Drawn 7) were interviewed and after viewing the CCTV replay, it was established that soon after the start EMERALD QUEEN momentarily shifted ‘inwards’ and  brushed against CRADOC which then drifted ‘inwards’ into the path

of SEACHANGE.  The Stipendiary Stewards while being satisfied that the incident was accidental, however, cautioned Jockeys S Sunil, Md Imran and I Khan to exercise greater control over their mounts soon after the start.

 

            The Veterinary Officer reported that EMERALD QUEEN (S Sunil) and CRADOC (Md Imran) returned with cut injuries on their right shoulder and both hinds respectively.

 

4th Race (156) THE MR DARCY HANDICAP – Div I - A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible, which have run at Kolkata having completed the course since 12th July, 2011 and have not won a race at any centre since that date – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1200 Metres (2.30/2.30) :  8 runners

 

            DIVINE SYMPHONY (Shailesh Shinde) was fractious while being stalled.

 

            BLUE MOUNTAIN (P S Chouhan) was slow to begin.

 

            The Veterinary Officer reported that FASCINATION returned bleeding from both nostrils.  Tr. Bath was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.

 

5th RACE (157) THE MR DARCY HANDICAP – Div II - A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible, which have run at Kolkata having completed the course since 12th July, 2011 and have not won a race at any centre since that date – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1200 Metres (3.00/3.00) : 7 runners

 

            ARCTIC FORCE (App Mohit Singh) was slow to begin.

 

            FLIGHTNING (C Alford) jumped awkwardly ‘outwards’ from the gates.

 

            Approaching the 900 metres BADAL (Vinay Jaiswal) travelling along the rails was checked by its jockey and lost ground when ARCTIC FORCE (App Mohit Singh) shifted ‘inwards’.  App Mohit Singh was fined a sum of Rs. 2,500/- for changing course when not adequately clear of the other runner.

 

            Passing the 900 metres GENEROSITY (S Domingo) travelling along the rails   repeatedly inconvenienced OCEAN DANCER (App Arman Khan) which was making progress on its outside.  At a subsequent enquiry Jockey S Domingo was shown the CCTV replay of the race and fined a sum of Rs. 1,000/- for attempting to change course when there was insufficient room to do so.

 

6th RACE (158) THE IMMACULATE HANDICAP - A Handicap for Horses Rated 40-65, Rated 20-45 eligible, which have run at Kolkata having completed the course since 12th July, 2011 and have not won a race at any centre since that date –(About) 1000 Metres (3.30/3.30) :  7 runners

7th RACE (159) THE QUINCY HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 60-85, Rated 40-65 eligible (About) 1200 Metres (4.00/4.00) :  6 runners

 

            The Veterinary Officer reported that IMPRESSIVE WISH returned with a cut injury on its right hind.

 

8th RACE (160) THE HOKAIDO HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible (About) 1800 Metres (4.30/4.33) : 9 runners

 

            Jockey S Sunil, the rider of DEVIL IN DISGUISE, was fined a sum of Rs. 1,000/- for excessive use of the whip on his mount (1st offence).

 

G E N E R A L

 

1.            Random testing for the presence of alcohol in respect of Jockeys Imran Khan, S Sunil, P S Chouhan and App Vikash Tamang was carried out and found to be clear.

 

2.            Urine samples.  Urine samples from the following horses were taken for clinical analysis :-

CALCUTTA RACES

MONSOON  MEETING, TWENTY SECOND DAY, TUESDAY 18TH OCTOBER, 2011

 

3rd RACE (149) THE PRINCE BLOSSOM HANDICAP - A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated  00-25 eligible, which have run at Kolkata having completed the course since 12th July, 2011 and have not won a race at any centre since that date –(About) 1400 Metres (3.15/3.15) : 8 runners

 

            At the conclusion of the Stewards enquiry held after the last race on 19th October, 2011 into the running and riding of GORSHKOV, trained by Mr. C Gleich and ridden by Jockey Pintu Das, Jockey Pintu Das was found guilty to the charge of ‘unsatisfactory riding’ (Rule 161(ii)) in that during the final 400 metres of the race when in clear running he failed to infuse adequate vigour to his riding.  The Stewards when deciding on his penalty took into consideration the jockey’s record, points of mitigation and decided to suspend Jockey Pintu Das from riding in races from 29th October, 2011 to 31st January, 2012 (both days inclusive) for unsatisfactory riding.  Further, the Stewards cautioned Tr. C Gleich as to the future running of his charges and to be more prudent in the choice of his riders.

ADDITIONAL REPORT – II

CALCUTTA RACES

MONSOON  MEETING, TWENTIETH DAY, WEDNESDAY, 12TH OCTOBER, 2011

 

1st RACE (135) THE PENDRAGON HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses 5 years old and over – Rated 00-25 (About) 1400 Metres (2.15/2.15) : 5 runners

 

At the enquiry into the running and riding of b g AGNATION, the following were interviewed :-

 

            Mr.  Nesar Alee, the Owner, Mr. Raman Kutty (Asst. Starter), Mr. Vickey  (Handler), Mr. F A Rodrigues (Jr), the trainer and App Vikash Tamang, the rider.

 

The betting patterns of the race in question from the Bangalore Turf Club Ltd., RWITC Ltd (both at Mumbai & Pune) and the Hyderabad Race Club were scrutinized.  At the conclusion of the enquiry the allegations of Mr. Nesar Alee could not be substantiated.    The betting patterns of the horse in question at above mentioned centres were found to be consistent and no unusual liability had been taken.  The opinion of Tr. F A Rodrigues was considered, however, the Stipendiary Stewards were satisfied that App Vikash Tamang’s riding was not in breach of the Rules of Racing.  Under the circumstances the enquiry was closed.
