SPRING MEETING, SECOND DAY, TUESDAY, 14TH FEBRUARY, 2012

False rails were in position from about 1200 metres to about 400 metres.

 

1st RACE (172) THE CAPTURE THE MOMENT HANDICAP -  A Handicap for Horses Rated 00-25 – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 2000 Metres (12.45/12.45) : 9 runners

 

            PINE VALLEY (Imran Chisty) was re-saddled at the start.

 

            MELODY BELLE (App Ajoy Roy) was slow to begin losing approximately two lengths at the start.

 

            HARNESS FREE (N S Parmar) under pressure drifted ‘outwards’ in the final stages of the race.

 

2nd RACE (173) THE COLONIAL HANDICAP – Div I - A Handicap for Horses 5 years old and over, Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1200 Metres (1.15/1.16) : 9 runners

 

            DESERT DREAMER (App Ajoy Roy) was fractious while being stalled.

 

            ALL THAT JAZZ (Melvyn Maseyk) was re-saddled at the start and was fractious while being stalled.          

 

            ROYAL COMPANION (App Mohit Singh) was slow to begin and on jumping out of the gates threw its head up, momentarily unbalancing its rider and thereafter despite the rider’s best efforts ran detached from the field in the early stages of the race.  In view of its behavior Tr. D M David was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.

 

            Jockey Pintu Das, the rider of I VE DONE IT, was fined a sum of Rs. 1,000/- for excessive use of the whip on his mount (1st offence).

 

3rd RACE (174) THE COLONIAL HANDICAP – Div II - A Handicap for Horses 5 years old and over, Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1200 Metres (1.45/1.49) : 8 runners

 

            RISE ABOVE ALL (Gajender Singh) was very fractious while being stalled thereby delaying the start of the race.  In view of its behavior Tr. Vikash Jaiswal was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Starter in a mock race.

 

            Fascinating (Melvyn Maseyk)  and GORSHKOV (Shailesh Shinde) were slow to begin losing approximately two lengths at the start.

 

Jockey Shezad Khan, the rider of b m GLORIOUS DANCER, when afforded an opportunity to explain the running of his mount stated that approaching the 800 metres his mount was not galloping ‘freely’ hence he eased his mount to a canter and finished off the race detached from the field.  On immediate examination the Veterinary Officer reported that the mare returned lame on right fore.  Tr. Bath was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.

 

4th RACE (175) THE BOOKMAKERS’ ASSOCIATION TROPHY – A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible (About) 1600 Metres (2.15/2.18) : 12 runners

 

            The Stipendiary Stewards held an enquiry immediately after the race with particular reference to the fall of b g LOUGHERNE (Aadesh Kumar) approaching the 1200 metres and the reasons as to why b h HADRIAN (N S Parmar) was brought to a halt approaching the 400 metres.  At the conclusion of the enquiry the Stipendiary Stewards were satisfied that the fall of  b g  LOUGHERNE was accidental and no blame could be attached to any jockey.  On immediate veterinary examination the gelding was found to have sustained a broken shoulder on its left fore and hence was put down on humanitarian grounds.

 

            Further, on immediate veterinary examination of b h HADRIAN, the horse was found to have sustained a suspected fracture on left shoulder and hence was kept under observation.  Under the  above circumstances the Stipendiary Stewards ordered the hoisting of the ‘All Clear’ signal.  The Sr. Veterinary Officer reported on 15th February, 2012 that the horse had sustained a compound fracture on the left shoulder and was put down on humanitarian grounds.

 

5th RACE (176) THE CROS TROPHY – For Maiden Horses 3 years old only (About) 1100 Metres (2.45/2.48) : 11 runners

 

            AL DI LA (N S Parmar) fly jumped out of the gates losing approximately two lengths at the start.    

 

            Approaching the 500 metres WILD CARD (Aadesh Kumar), LIL WENDY (Imran Chisty) and AL DI LA (N S Parmar) which were making progress received various degrees of interference causing the latter to lose considerable ground.  At a subsequent enquiry it was established that ZIP ZAP ZOOM (Melvyn Maseyk) also making progress on the far side shifted ‘in’ causing WILD CARD to be carried onto LIL WENDY which went onto AL DI LA.  The Stipendiary Stewards fined Jockey Melvyn Maseyk a sum of Rs. 5,000/- for shifting ground when not adequately clear of the other runners.  Jockey Melvyn Maseyk was further advised to report to Mr. N Bird, the Jockey Coach for appropriate corrective measures.

 

            The Veterinary Officer reported that TIM TAM WAY returned lame on left hind.  Tr. Vikash Jaiswal was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary  Officer.

 

6th RACE (177) THE ANAGRAM HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 40-65, Rated 20-45 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1100 Metres (3.15/3.19) : 14 runners

 

            ACCESSOR (App Ajoy Roy, drawn 6) was fractious and caused damaged to its stall.  Under the circumstances it was re-stalled in draw No. 15.

 

            ASTON MARTIN (Md. Sameer) was very fractious while being stalled.  In view of its behaviour Tr.  Vikash Jaiswal was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Starter in a mock race.

 

            GIOCOMETTI (Melvyn Maseyk) was slow to begin.

 

            KINSHASA (App Mohit Singh) swerved momentarily ‘outwards’ on jumping out from the gates.

 

7th RACE (178) THE CONSUL SECRET HANDICAP – A Handicap for  Horses Rated 40-65, Rated 20-45 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1400 Metres (3.45/3.47) : 11 runners

 

            Tr. Patrick Quinn was severely reprimanded for not following the parade drill in respect of his charge CEE FOUR.  He was informed that should he repeat the same practice in future, appropriate action will be initiated against him.

 

            CEE FOUR (App Vikash Tamang) drifted momentarily  ‘outwards’ on jumping out from the gates.

 

8th RACE (179) THE AMAZING PRINCESS HANDICAP – Div I – A Handicap for Horses Rated 60-85, Rated 40-65 eligible (About) 1200 Metres (4.15/4.15) : 9 runners

 

            Jockey Melvyn Maseyk, the rider of SECRET WHISPERS, was fined a sum of Rs. 3,000/- for excessive use of the whip on his mount (2nd offence).

 

9th RACE (180) THE AMAZING PRINCESS HANDICAP – Div II – A Handicap for Horses Rated 60-85, Rated 40-65 eligible (About) 1200 Metres (4.45/4.48) : 8 runners

 

            ch g  SOKUDO (P Trevor) was very fractious in its stall and injured itself.  Under the circumstances the gelding was withdrawn on veterinary grounds before coming under Starter’s orders.  The Starting Stall Certificate of the gelding has been revoked by the Starter.  On examination the Veterinary Officer reported that the gelding was lame on right hind.  Tr. Bharath Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.

 

            ROYAL DANCE (App Vikash Tamang) was slow to begin.

 

            SUPERIOR QUEST (App Mohit Singh) fly jumped ‘outwards’ from the starting gates.

 

            Soon after the start ROYAL SAGA (M Krishna, drawn 2)  was inconvenienced when STAR IMPACT (B Mahesh, drawn 1) shifted ‘outwards’ causing Jockey M Krishna to momentarily lose his left stirrup iron.

 

            Approaching the 900 metres SUPERIOR QUEST (App Mohit Singh), MESMERIZER (Shailesh Shinde) and SMOKIN ACES (N S Parmar) received various degrees of interference with the former having to be severely checked by its rider and lose considerable ground.  At a subsequent enquiry it was established that ROYAL SAGA (M Krishna) travelling along the rails shifted ‘outwards’ carrying SUPERIOR QUEST onto MESMERIZER which in turn went onto SMOKIN ACES.  The Stipendiary Stewards decided to fine Jockey M Krishna a sum of Rs. 5,000/- for shifting ground when not sufficiently clear of the other runners and advised him to report to Mr. N Bird, the Jockey Coach for appropriate corrective measures.

 

            The Veterinary Officer reported that ch g SUPERIOR QUEST (App Mohit Singh) returned bleeding from both nostrils.  Tr. D M David was advised not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.

 

G E N E R A L

 

1.       Random testing for the presence of alcohol in respect of Jockeys Md. Imran, Pintu Das, Afzal Khan and App Kishen Singh was carried out and found to be clear.

 

2.       Urine samples.  Urine samples from the following horses were taken for clinical analysis :-

            ROYAL COMPANION                                                           -           2nd Race.

            KAYADHU                                                                 -           3rd Race.

WHISPERING HILLS                                                  -           6th Race.
