WINTER MEETING, THIRD DAY, SATURDAY, 14TH JANUARY, 2012

Penetrometer Reading : 1.6 Cms, Good Going

False rails were in position from about 1200 metres to the winning post.

 

1st RACE (117) THE DARING DON HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 00-25 – To be ridden by Jockes of Indian Nationality – (About) 1600 Metres (12.45/12.45) : 12 runners

 

            BLUE MOUNTAIN (Gajender Singh),  AB IST OMEN (Afzal Khan), OCEAN ELEMENT (Asghar) and SHESASTAR (App Shezad Khan) were slow to begin losing approximately two lengths each at the start.

 

            Some distance after the start PYTHAGORAS (Afzal Hossain) was checked by its rider and lost some ground when running into the heels of  HAREY PUTTER (M Maseyk).

 

Approaching the 1400 marker CHERISH THE MOMENT (C Alford) was checked by its rider to avoid  clipping the  heels of OUR LITTLE ANGEL (A M Tograllu) and shifted ‘outwards’ into the path of BHIMA (M Krishna) whose jockey taking evasive action inconvenienced HARNESS FREE ((N S Parmar)  travelling on the far side.  At a subsequent enquiry the Stipendiary Stewards were of the opinion that the incidents were accidental and as such no further action was taken.

 

The|Veterinary Officer reported that HAREY PUTTER (M Maseyk) returned with a cut injury on its right hind.

 

2nd RACE (118)  THE PEARSON SURITA MEMORIAL TROPHY – A Handicap for  Horses Rated 60-85, Rated 40-65 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 2000 Metres (1.15/1.15) : 4 runners

 

            AAMAR KAKU (App Shezad Khan) was slow to begin losing approximately two lengths at the start.

 

3rd RACE (119) THE  ROMANTIC FIRE PLATE – For Maiden Horses 3 years old only (About) 1200 Metres (1.45/1.45) : 8 runners

 

            TASVEER (App Mohit Singh) was fractious in its stall.

 

            The Stipendiary Stewards held an enquiry immediately after the running of the race with particular reference to the fall of Jockey Shailesh Shinde from his mount b c MAMA’S DELIGHT soon after the start.  At the conclusion of the enquiry the Stipendiary Stewards were satisfied that the fall was due to the jockey being unbalanced by the awkward start taken by the colt.  The Stipendiary Stewards ordered the hoisting of  the ‘all clear’ signal.

 

4th RACE (120) THE SMART RULER HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible (About) 1200 Metres (2.15/2.15) :14 runners

 

            Prior to the running of the race Ms. Arti Doctor, the trainer of DADDY COOL,  informed the Stipendiary Stewards that, if circumstances permitted, her charge  would be ridden in check.   The Stipendiary Stewards made a note.

 

            Permission was granted to Tr. D Karki to substitute App Zarar Alam in place of App J K Prasad to ride his mount MANEGE.

 

            TIGANA (Vinay Jaiswal) was fractious while being stalled.

 

            REAMS OF GOLD (App Vikash Tamang) was fractious in its stall.

 

            SUMANGALA (Md Shabbani) was slow to begin losing approximately four lengths at the start.   In view of its behavior Tr. Shafiq Khan was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race. 

 

 

Some distance after the start INSPIRATION (Stephane Pasquier, drawn 13) and FANKAAR (M Krishna, drawn 12) made contact with each other.

 

            Approaching the 800 metres b m REAMS OF GOLD (App Vikash Tamang)  was brought to a halt by its jockey who dismounted.  On examination the mare was found to have sustained a compound fracture on its left hock joint and was put down on humanitarian grounds.

 

5th RACE (121) THE POLICE COMMISSIONER’S TROPHY – A Handicap for Horses Rated 60-85, Rated 40-65 eligible (About) 1200 Metres (2.45/2.45) : 9 runners

 

            Approaching the 900 metres DEBONAIRE GIRL (Shailesh Shinde) travelling on the rails shifted ‘outwards’ and inconvenienced SATSUMA STAR (Aadesh Kumar) who in turn  inconvenienced  ROYAL DANCE (A M Tograllu) travelling on its outside.  At a subsequent enquiry Jockey Shailesh Shinde was advised to be more careful when shifting ground

 

6th RACE (122) THE MADRAS RACE CLUB TROPHY – A Handicap for Horses Rated 80 & above, Rated 60-85 eligible (About) 1200 Metres (3.15/3.15) : 6 runners

 

            Jockey Aadesh Kumar, the rider of HIGHLAND MUSIC, reported that his mount was inclined to hang ‘in’ throughout the race.  Tr. Patrick Quinn, deputizing for Tr. Vinayak, was informed to take appropriate corrective measures before accepting with his charge again.

 

The Veterinary Officer reported that ARBROATH returned bleeding from both nostrils.  Tr.   Bharath Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.

 

Jockey Aadesh Kumar, the rider of HIGHLAND MUSIC, reported the loss of  whip approaching the 600 metres.

 

7th RACE (123) THE BOLD CHIEFTAN HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1400 Metres (3.45/3.47) : 11 runners

 

            REGAL BEARING (A M Tograllu) and MOUNTAIN ROSE (Aadesh Kumar) were fractious while being stalled thereby delaying the start of the race.  Their respective trainers have been advised to give their charges adequate gate practice before accepting with them again.

 

            LEONIDAS (Afzal Khan) was slow to begin losing approximately two lengths at the start.

 

            The Stewards held an enquiry immediately after the race with particular reference to the interference received by dk b f VICTORY VIBES (Shailesh Shinde) in the concluding stages of the race.  After due deliberations the Stewards  decided to order the hoisting of ‘all clear’ signal.  The Stewards continued with the enquiry after the last race into the reasons of the interference and charged  App Vikash Tamang, the rider of b g STALKER, under Rule 161(i) of the Rules of Racing i.e. careless riding in that when his mount was in clear running and was placed under pressure the apprentice made no attempt to prevent the gelding from shifting ‘inwards’ thereby causing VICTORY VIBES galloping along the rails to be checked by its jockey to avoid running into the heels of the former and loose some ground.   The apprentice pleaded guilty to the charge and the Stewards when deciding on penalty took into consideration the record of the rider, points of mitigation and decided to suspend App Vikash Tamang from riding in races on 31st January and 2nd February, 2012.  The apprentice was informed of his right to appeal.

 

            The Veterinary Officer reported that ANDROMEDA (N S Parmar) returned bleeding from right nostril.  Tr.  Shyam S Habbu was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.      

 

8th  RACE (124) THE IKARIA HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses 5 years old and over, Rated 40-65, Rated 20-45 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1400 Metres (4.15/4.19) : 12 runners

 

            b g SOLID SUCCESS (Md Imran) planted and took no practical part in the race.  In view of its behaviour Tr. Jasbir Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.   The Starting Stall Certificate of the gelding has been revoked by the Starter.

 

 

            RIVER PRIDE (Afzal Hossain) was slow to begin.

 

            ZOFFANY (N S Parmar) was denied a clear run approaching the 600 metres and 400 metres due to a tightly packed field.

 

            Jockey Neeraj Rawal, the rider of  SCHWARZENEGGER, reported that his mount was inclined to hang ‘in’ throughout the race.  Tr. Vikash Jaiswal was advised to take appropriate corrective measures before accepting with his charge again.

 

G E N E R A L

 

1.                   Random testing for the presence of alcohol in respect of Jockeys Aadesh Kumar,             Haroon Khan, S Rabbani, Daniel Grant and App Md. Sameer was carried out and found to be clear.

 

2.                   Urine samples.  Urine samples from the following horses were taken for clinical analysis :-

 

AMOR AMOR                                                             -           5th Race

            HIGHLAND MUSIC                                                   -           6th Race.

 

3.         On the morning of Sunday, 15th January, 2012 SPEED ANGEL was examined by the Veterinary Officer and found to be lame on right fore.  Tr. S Padmanabhan was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.

 

4.                  As Jockey B Sreekanth was declared medically unfit to ride by the Medical Officer of BTC Ltd, the following change of Jockeys were permitted :-

 

            CHERISH THE MOMENT                  -           C Alford (1st Race)

            ASHWA PRAJOT                                -           C Alford (4th Race.

            MUST BE MAGIC                               -           Neeraj Rawal (6th Race).

            INCANTO BLISS                                -           Neeraj Rawal (7th Race).
