CALCUTTA RACES

MONSOON  MEETING, SEVENTH DAY, SATURDAY, 13TH AUGUST, 2011

No False Rails

 

There was intermittent rain throughout the race programme.

 

1st RACE (43) THE SILVER DAWN HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses 5 years old and over – Rated 00-25 (About) 1100 Metres (1.45/1.49) : 11 runners

 

Sugar ‘N’ Salt (App Md Sameer) and SMILES (Russell Xaviers) were difficult to load.

 

Sugar ‘N’ Salt was slow to begin and was carried wide without cover rounding the final bend.

 

App Ajoy Roy(PERFECT EXAMPLE) reported that his mount was running green in the final stages of the race and he got unbalanced in the process losing his stirrup irons.

 

SUN DANCER (Vinay Jaiswal) arrived considerably late to the starting gates resulting in the delay to the start of the race. Trainer Shafiq Khan was informed that a repeat of a similar delay would entail his charges being withdrawn from the race.

 

2nd RACE (44) THE YOUNG LADY HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 40-65, Rated 20-45 eligible, (About) 1800 Metres (2.15/2.30) : 7 runners

 

ANDROLOGY(Vinay Jaiswal) refused to be stalled inspite of repeated attempts to do so. Under the circumstances the gelding was withdrawn with the permission of the Stewards before coming under Starter’s orders. The Starting Stall Certificate of ANDROLOGY has been revoked by the Starter.

 

DESERT IMAGE(App Md Imran Ashraf), AVON CREEK(App Mohit Singh) and CREDIT SWAP(Neeraj Rawal) were slow off losing about two lengths each.

 

3rd RACE (45) THE CELESTIAL GIFT HANDICAP – For Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1100 Metres (2.45/3.02) : 10 runners

 

REGAL BEARING(Md Shabbani) was fractious while being loaded.

 

MESMERIZER(Shailesh Shinde) was slow to begin.

 

OCEAN ELEMENT(Asghar) was slow to begin and trailed the field home. In view of its behavior Trainer Bharath Singh has been advised not to accept with his charge unless shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.

 

LAKE SPIRIT(Amandeep Singh) stumbled accidentally approaching the 800 metres with the rider losing his right stirrup iron which he was able to regain soon after.

 

4th RACE (46) THE INDEPENDENCE CUP  – A Handicap for Horses Rated 40-65, Rated 20-45 eligible (About) 1400 Metres (3.15/3.30) : 5 runners

 

ARACELI(C Alford) which was led riderless to the start, reached late, thereby delaying the proceedings. Trainer D R Byramji was informed that a repeat of a similar delay would entail his charges being withdrawn from the race.

 

Jockey I Khan(INCANTO BLISS) reported that his mount was inclined to hang out for the greater part of the race. Trainer D M David was advised to take remedial measures in consultation with the Veterinary Officer before accepting with his charge again.

           

5th RACE (47) THE CALCUTTA JUVENILE SPRINT  – For Horses 3 years old only, (About) 1100 Metres (3.45/3.57) : 4 runners

 

ALIENATION(B Mahesh) jumped awkwardly out from the gates.

 

An enquiry has been opened into the running and riding of Dandified, ridden by Jockey C Alford and trained by Mr Vijay Singh.

 

6th RACE (48) THE HARRY THE HORSE TROPHY – For Horses 4 years old & over – (About) 1400 Metres (4.15/4.28) : 5 runners

 

At the request of trainer Patrick Quinn ch g SAMARKHAND declared to start in the above race was examined by the Sr Veterinary Officer on the morning of Saturday, 13th August 2011 and found to have a painful swelling on the right fore. Under the circumstances the gelding was permitted to be withdrawn on Veterinary grounds and trainer Patrick Quinn was advised not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.

 

7th RACE (49) THE HEIRESS HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 40-65, Rated 00-25 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1400 Metres (4.45/5.03) : 11 runners

 

ALICANTE(Vinay Jaiswal) was very difficult to load and refused to be stalled inspite of several attempts. The filly was withdrawn with the permission of the Stewards before coming under Starter’s orders. The Starting Stall Certificate of the filly has been withdrawn by the Starter.

 

RISE ABOVE ALL(App Md Sameer) and ASIAN ROCKET(Neeraj Rawal) were difficult to load.

 

KAMAKAZI(Melvyn Maseyk) was slow to begin.

 

Approaching the 400 metres, OAKDALE(S Zervaan) running directly behind GODS CREATION  had to be shifted out to avoid clipping the heels of the latter and inadvertently inconvenienced LET HER DANCE(M F Ali Khan).

 

App Mohit Singh, the rider of the winner KINSHASA was fined a sum of Rs. 1000/- for repeatedly looking over his shoulders in the final straight.

 

G E N E R A L

  1. Random testing for the presence of alcohol in respect of Jockeys Gajender Singh, Dashrath Singh, Amandeep Singh and B Mahesh was carried out and found to be clear.

 

  1. Urine samples.  Urine samples from the following horses were taken for clinical analysis :-
