CHRISTMAS MEETING, SECOND DAY, FRIDAY, 9TH DECEMBER, 2011

Penetrometer Reading : 1.5 Cms  : Good Going.

False rails were in position from about 1200 metres to about 400 metres.

 

1st RACE (57) THE REBEL WARRIOR HANDICAP – Div I – A Handicap for Horses Rated 00-25 – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1200 Metres (12.15/12.15) : 10 runners

 

            AIRLEAS (B V Krishnan) and QUENTIN DERWARD (M Maseyk) were fractious in their respective stalls.

 

            dk b f PEPPERMINT (App Vikash Tamang) planted losing considerable ground at the start.  In view of its behaviour, Tr. Rodrigues (Jr) was informed that the Starting Stall Certificate of the filly has been revoked by the Starter.

 

            SUPREME ATTRACTION (M F Ali Khan) was slow to begin losing approximately three lengths at the start.  Tr. R Gowli was advised to give his charge adequate gate practice before accepting with it again.

 

            The Veterinary Officer reported that LAKE STAR (Aadesh Kumar) returned bleeding from both nostrils.  Tr.  Bharath Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.

 

2nd RACE (58) THE REBEL WARRIOR HANDICAP – Div II – A Handicap for Horses Rated 00-25 – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1200 Metres (12.45/12.46) : 9 runners

 

            FLAMING LOVE (App Ankit Kumar) was fractious while being stalled.

 

            AB IST OMEN (App Vikash Tamang) was slow to begin losing approximately three lengths at the start.  Tr. Sarfaraz Khan was advised to give his charge adequate gate practice before accepting with it again.

 

            When afforded an opportunity to explain the running of ch c EXPLORER’S QUEST, App  Md. Azharuddin stated in the presence of his master trainer Mr. D M David that he was instructed to be positioned 3rd/4th in the early and middle stages of the race and to do his best thereafter.  But when questioned by the Stipendiary Stewards  as to why he made no effort  to improve his position in the middle stages of the race when he had every opportunity to do so, the apprentice could give no plausible explanation.  Tr. D M David when questioned expressed his displeasure with the apprentice’s performance during the middle stages of the race.  The Stipendiary Stewards taking into consideration the experience of the apprentice informed him that he was being given a benefit of doubt in this instance, however, he was directed to report to Mr. N Bird, the Jockey Coach for appropriate instructions.  Tr. D M David was informed that his charges should be ridden in such  manner that leaves no room for query.

 

3rd RACE (59) THE BOUNTIFUL GESTURE PLATE – For Horses 2 years old only (About) 1100 Metres (1.15/1.17) : 7 runners

 

            CERISE (P Trevor) and HAPPY KINGDOM (Aadesh Kumar) were fractious while being stalled.

 

            Some distance after the start  ATWATER (C Alford, drawn 4) and MALAHIDE (M Maseyk, drawn 6) brushed against each other.

 

 

4th RACE (60) THE CORNISH PRINCE HANDICAP -  A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible  – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1200 Metres (1.45/1.52) : 8 runners

 

b g  RISE ABOVE ALL (Gajender Singh) was fractious in its stall and flipped over.  Under the circumstances the gelding was withdrawn with the permission of the Stewards before coming under Starter’s orders.  Tr.  Vikash Jaiswal was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.

 

GENEROSITY (A M Tograllu, drawn 2) planted losing considerable ground at the start.   Tr.  Javed Khan was informed not to accept with his charge until passed fit by the Stipendiary Stewards in a barrier trial during the hours of morning track work.

 

MOMENT OF LOVE (App J K Prasad) and MOUNTAIN ROSE (Sk Israil) which were fractious while being stalled were slow to begin.

 

HEADLINER (Shailesh Shinde) was slow to begin.

 

            An objection was lodged by Jockey Shailesh Shinde, the rider of HEADLINER placed 2nd by the Judge against Jockey N S Parmar, the rider of ISTANBUL placed 1st by the Judge on the grounds of “taking me out in the final 300 metres of the race thereby taking my ground causing me to check my mount at a crucial stage which cost me a certain race”.   The Stewards after having interviewed Jockeys Shailesh Shinde and  N S Parmar, Stipendiary Stewards and viewing the CCTV replay of the race, unanimously resolved to over-rule the objection, the Judge’s  placings remained unaltered.

 

Passing the distance post, DIVINE SPLENDOR (Dashrath Singh) received various degrees of interference and was checked by its rider when ISTANBUL (N S Parmar) shifted ‘outwards’.  At a subsequent enquiry Jockey N S Parmar, the rider of ISTANBUL, was fined a sum of Rs. 5,000/- for not exercising sufficient control over his mount when placing it under pressure.

 

5th RACE (61) THE AMBERETTA HANDICAP -   A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible  – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1400 Metres (2.15/2.24) : 10 RUNNERS

 

            BERNARDINO (Dashrath Singh) was resaddled at the start.

 

            FLAMINGO FANTASY (App Md Azharuddin) planted and took no practical part in the race.  In view of its behaviour Tr. D M David was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.

 

6th RACE (62) THE EL PADRONE HANDICAP -   A Handicap for Horses Rated 40-65, Rated 20-45 eligible  – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1400 Metres (2.45/2.52) : 8 runners

7th RACE (63) THE MAHARAJADHIRAJA UDAY CHAND MAHTAB OF BURDWAN MEMORIAL TROPHY – A Handicap for Horses Rated 80 & above, Rated 60-85 eligible (About) 2000 Metres (3.15/3.18) : 7 runners

 

            Passing the 600 metres CAMBIASSO (P Trevor) travelling on the rails was squeezed for room and lost ground  due to a tightly packed field.                     

 

            App Vikash Tamang, the rider of RISING HERO, reported loss of his whip approaching the 300 metres.

 

 

8th RACE (64) THE STINGRAY HANDICAP Div – I – A Handicap for Horses Rated 60-85, Rated 40-65 eligible (About) 1100 Metres (3.45/3.47) : 8 runners

 

            ROB N ROB (App Shezad Khan) was fractious while being stalled.

 

            b h SPITZ (B Mahesh) fly jumped from the gates unbalancing its rider who momentarily lost the aid of his left stirrup iron, and the horse finished the course detached from the field.  In view of its behaviour Tr. Bharath Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until passed fit by the Stipendiary Stewards in a barrier trial during the hours of morning track work.

 

            MESMERIZER (Shailesh Shinde) was slow to begin losing approximate three lengths at the start.  In view of its behaviour Tr. Ms. Arti Doctor was informed to give her charge adequate gate practice before accepting with it again.

 

            The Veterinary Officer reported that STAR VISION returned bleeding from both nostrils.  Tr. Vinayak was informed not to accept with his charge until passed fit by the Veterinary Officer.

 

9th RACE (65) THE STINGRAY HANDICAP Div – II – A Handicap for Horses Rated 60-85, Rated 40-65 eligible (About) 1100 Metres (4.15/4.15) : 8 runners

 

            GLORIOUS INVENTION (C Alford) was slow to begin.

 

G E N E R A L

 

  1. Random testing for the presence of alcohol in respect of Jockeys C P Manasseh,  C Alford, B V Krishnan and App  Ankit Kumar was carried out and found to be clear.

 

  1. Urine samples.  Urine samples from the following horses were taken for clinical analysis :-

 

      PRECIOUS                                        -           2nd Race.
