7th RACE (42) THE THRIFTY ALLAN HANDICAP - A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible (About) 1000 Metres (4.45/5.14) : 12 runners

            An enquiry is being held into the improved performance of b g BRAVO ITALIANO  trained by Mr. Vikash Jaiswal and placed 2nd by the Judge in the above race as compared to its previous run in Race No. 18 run on 26th July, 2011 when ridden by the same Jockey, it ran unplaced.

Penetrometer Reading : 2.1 Cms  : Good Going

False rails were in position from about 1100 to about 400 metres

 

1st RACE (36) THE POMPANO HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 00-25 (About) 1800 Metres (1.45/1.47) : 6 runners

 

            b m  FIT FOR FRAY (App Mohit Singh) was fractious and injured itself while being stalled.  Under the circumstances the mare was withdrawn on veterinary grounds before coming under Starter’s orders.  The Starting Stall Certificate of the mare has been revoked by the Starter and  Tr. Jasbir Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until certified fit by the Sr. Veterinary Officer.

 

            VAANI (Md Imran) behaved unruly during the parade of the starters in the paddock and was slow to begin when the start was effected.

 

            b g HIGHLAND MAGIC (S Zervaan) which was slow to begin losing considerable ground at the start, made rapid progress in the middle stages of the race.  However, it was observed that the gelding was eased  by its jockey in the final 300 metres of the race.  The gelding was impounded for veterinary examination and the Veterinary Officer reported that no ailment was noticed.  Tr. Bharath Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.

 

            INCANTATION (App Md Sameer) reared up as the start was effected and dislodged its rider.  Further, passing the 800 metres VIKING VALOUR (Md. Shabbani) travelling on the outside of EARL OF WARWICK (Melvyn Maseyk) was inconvenienced and  checked by its rider when the riderless INCANTATION shifted ‘inwards’. 

 

            On examination after the race the Veterinary Officer reported that INCANTATION returned with bleeding cut injury on its right hind.

 

2nd RACE (37) THE VERGE HANDICAP - A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible, which have raced at least twice in Kolkata during the Cold Weather Season 2010-2011 and not won till date – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1400 Metres (2.15/2.16) : 6 runners

 

            FASCINATING (M F Ali Khan) was slow to begin.

 

            Approaching the 800 metres PERSERVERANCE (App Md. Sameer) was checked by its rider and lost some ground when ACCESSOR (App Shezad Khan) shifted ‘inwards’.  At a subsequent enquiry App Shezad Khan was shown the CCTV replay of the race and pleaded guilty to the charge of careless riding in that he changed course when not adequately clear of the other runner and was fined a sum of Rs. 2,500/- for the offence.

 

            App Mohit Singh, the rider of FLIRTING EYE, was fined a sum of Rs. 1,000/- for excessive use of the whip on his mount (1st offence).

 

3rd RACE (38) THE SHAHI BAG HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 00-25 – (About) 1100 Metres (2.45/2.50) : 9 runners

 

dk b f PEPPERMINT and b g ARISEN STAR arrived considerably late to the starting gates resulting in the inordinate delay to the start of the race.  Trainers Javed Khan and D Karki were informed that a repeat of a similar delay would entail their charges being withdrawn from the race.

 

SECRET ATTACK (Gajender Singh) and MISSION CONTROL (Md Islam) were fractious while being stalled.

 

HAREY  PUTTER (Md. Imran) was fractious in its stall.

 

Jockey B Mahesh when afforded an opportunity to explain the running and his riding on his mount b g ARISEN STAR, stated that he was instructed to be positioned 4th/5th in the early and middle stages of the race and thereafter to do his best.  However, on jumping out the gates the gelding showed no initial speed and despite his best efforts it ran detached from the field.  The gelding was impounded for veterinary and clinical examinations.  On veterinary examination no ailment was noticed.  Tr. D Karki was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.

 

Jockey C Alford, the rider of TATTOO, was fined a sum of Rs. 1,000/- for excessive use of the whip (1st offence) on his mount.

 

4th RACE (39) THE TRUE COLOURS HANDICAP -   A Handicap for Horses Rated 40-65, Rated 20-45 eligible, which have raced at least twice in Kolkata during the Cold Weather Season 2010-2011 and not won till date – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1400 Metres (3.15/3.27) : 6 runners

 

            AUTOCRAT (S Zervaan) which was slow to begin drifted ‘outwards’ soon after jumping out from the gates.

 

            AUCKLEY (App Mohit Singh) was slow to begin.

 

            An objection was lodged by App Vikash Tamang, the rider of SECRET WHISPERS placed 2nd by the Judge against App Md. Sameer, the rider of ADAMARIS placed 1st by the Judge on the grounds of “interference in that the winner did not maintain a straight course right through the final straight thereby I had to change course and this cost me the race”.     The Stewards after having interviewed  both the jockeys, viewing the CCTV replay of the race and taking into consideration the opinion expressed by the Stipendiary Stewards, resolved to over-rule the objection, the Judge’s placings remaining unaltered.  Further the Stewards cautioned both apprentices to exercise greater control over their mounts while placing them under pressure.

 

5th RACE (40) THE MERCURY HANDICAP – For Maiden Horses 3 years old only, Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1200 Metres (3.45/4.02) :  12 runners

 

            VICTORY VIBES (M F Ali Khan) jumped awkwardly ‘inwards’ as the start was effected.

 

            CANDLE IN THE WIND (S Rabbani, drawn 3) jumped awkwardly ‘outwards’ from the gates bumping into and carrying SUPREME CONQUEROR (C Alford, drawn 4) on to SECRET REWARD (B Mahesh, drawn 5) which was checked by its rider.  At a subsequent enquiry it was established that the incident was accidental and as such, no action was taken beyond cautioning Jockey S Rabbani to be more alert in future.

 

            During the concluding stages of the race ALEXANDER (App Mohit Singh) placed 2nd by the Judge, under pressure from its rider was observed to drift ‘outwards’ and run into the heels of WELCOME SMILE (Shailesh Shinde) placed 1st by the Judge causing App Mohit Singh to momentarily lose his balance and stirrup irons.  An enquiry is being held into this incident and the results will be announced later.

 

 

 

            Jockey Md. Imran, the rider of BHIMA, was fined a sum of Rs. 2,000/- for the indifferent handling of his mount in the early and middle stages of the race.   The jockey was further cautioned to ensure that in future he rides his mounts in such a manner that leaves no room for query.

 

6th RACE (41) THE DESIREE HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 40-65, Rated 20-45 eligible - To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1100 Metres (4.15/4.43) : 12 runners

 

            As Jockey B Mahesh was declared medically unfit to ride, Tr. D Karki was permitted to substitute Jockey Vinay Jaiswal to ride his charge FOCUS.

 

            ROYAL DANCE (App Vikash Tamang)  which was fractious in its stall was taken out and  reloaded.

 

            b c ADMIRAL (S Zervaan) which was fractious broke open the front gates and came out of its stall.  The colt was caught and reloaded.

 

            THE GIANT (Md. Islam) was fractious in its stall.

 

            BAYBERRY (M F Ali Khan), BASKERVILLE (Pradeep Kumar), REBELLIOUS (Melvyn Maseyk) and OCEAN CLIPPER (Sk Israil) were slow to begin.

 

            Passing the distance post OCEAN CLIPPER (Sk Israil) under pressure drifted ‘outwards.  Jockey Sk Israil was cautioned to exercise greater control over his mounts when placing them under pressure.

 

            Jockey S Zervaan, the rider of ADMIRAL, reported that he lost his whip approaching the final 150 metres.

 

7th RACE (42) THE THRIFTY ALLAN HANDICAP - A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible (About) 1000 Metres (4.45/5.14) : 12 runners

 

            SEA MAGIC (Asghar) and BRAVO ITALIANO (Vinay Jaiswal) were fractious while being stalled.

 

            BLACK FALCON (App Shezad Khan) and NATIONAL QUEEN (Md Islam) were fractious in their respective stalls.

 

            An enquiry has been opened into the incident of interference received by RAGING BULL (App Sk Zaffar Riaz) some distance from the starting gates.  The results of this enquiry will be announced later.

 

            SEA MAGIC (Asghar) ran detached from the field.  Tr. Bharath Singh was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.

 

            App Shezad Khan when afforded an opportunity to explain the running and his riding on b g BLACK FALCON, stated that passing the 700 metres his saddle shifted back as such he eased his mount to a canter.  Tr. Bath was fined a sum of Rs. 1,000/- for faulty saddling.

 

            App Mohit Singh, the rider of KAYADHU reported that the saddle of his mount shifted back during the concluding stages of the race.  Tr. Jasbir Singh was fined a sum of Rs. 1,000/- for faulty saddling.

1.         As Jockey M Mark was unable to fulfill his riding engagements for the day, the following change of jockeys were permitted :-

2.         Random testing for the presence of alcohol in respect of Jockeys Melvyn Maseyk,  Shailesh Shinde, B Mahesh and Amandeep Singh was carried out and found to be clear.

 

3.         Urine samples.  Urine samples from the following horses were taken for clinical analysis :-

      HIGHLAND MAGIC, VAANI and EARL OF WARWICK                     -           1st Race.

      ARISEN STAR                                                                                  -           3rd Race.

      ADAMARIS                                                                                      -           4th Race.

      ADMIRAL                                                                                         -           6th Race.

 

4.                  App Mohit Singh was fined a sum of Rs. 5,000/- for behaviour unbecoming of a licensed professional in that during the day’s programme he had a running spat with the handlers at the starting gate and for his comments passed thereafter.
