Tr. Vikash Jaiswal when questioned regarding the improved performance of his charge b g ROYAL COUNTY DOWN as compared to its previous run in Race No. 121 run on 1st October, 2011 where it finished unplaced, stated that :-

a)                  The gelding was now competing with horses of a similar caliber i.e., non-winners.

b)                  Jockey Gajender Singh, the rider in Race No. 121, was fined for failing to improve his position and for travelling wide while negotiating the bend and, therefore, today he had declared a more competent rider.      In his opinion the above reasoning enabled the gelding to perform better.

The Stipendiary Stewards while noting his explanations, informed Tr. Vikash Jaiswal that the performance and running pattern of his charges will be closely monitored.

4th RACE (131) THE GENESIS HANDICAP – For Maiden Horses 3 years old only, Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1000 Metres (3.15/3.16) : 8 runners

Jockey N S Parmer, the rider of ch f LA DOMINIQUE , was fined a sum of Rs. 1,000/- for the injudicious handling of his mount in that approaching the 800 metres when in clear running,  he, for no apparent reason restrained his mount from making progress thereby placing her in a position of disadvantage.  The Stipendiary Stewards informed the jockey that in this instance they had taken a lenient view and should he in future ride in a similar manner, he would be appropriately dealt with.

5th RACE (132) THE ARGUS HANDICAP – A Handicap for Horses Rated 40-65, Rated 20-45 eligible – (About) 1000 Metres (3.45/3.46) : 6 runners

Jockey Md. Shabbani, the rider of  SONIC BOOM, was reprimanded for failing to improve his position in the early and middle stages of the race.  Tr. Shafiq Khan was informed that his charges should run and be ridden in such a manner that leaves no room for query.

As Jockey Surjeet Singh was declared medically unfit to ride, Tr. Rodrigues Jr. was permitted to substitute Jockey I Khan to ride his charge ROMANTIC LAD.

KINGSTON (App Mohit Singh) was fractious while being stalled.

BRAVO ITALIANO (Vinay Jaiswal) planted and took no practical part in the race.  In view of its behaviour Tr. Vikash Jaiswal was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.

b g STALKER (Nelson Maseyk) lost some ground at the start when jumping awkwardly out from the gates and  thereafter approaching the  700 metres marker the jockey was dislodged from his mount.

The Stewards held an enquiry immediately after the running of the race with particular reference to the incident  of Jockey Nelson Maseyk’s fall from his mount b g STALKER.  After due enquiry the Stewards being satisfied that the fall was due to the saddle being displaced and that no blame could be attached to any rider, decided to hoist the ‘all clear’ signal.  The Stipendiary Stewards interviewed Mr. Patrick Quinn, the trainer of b g STALKER and fined him a sum of Rs. 1,000/- for faulty saddling.

a)                  He was pleasantly surprised with the performance of his charge as his stable did not fancy the gelding’s chances to win.

b)                  He could give no plausible explanation for its improved performance, however, stated that in  Race No. 120 the gelding received a check approaching the 400 metres at which time  it was making some progress.  This incident may have had some bearing on its performance.

The Stipendiary Stewards while noting his explanation informed the trainer that he must endeavour to ensure that his charges run with a degree of consistency between  runs

The Veterinary Officer reported that  ABAYA returned with a bleeding cut injury on its right fore.
