1st RACE (128) THE IDOLATOR HANDICAP – A
Handicap for Horses Rated 00-25 – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality
(About) 1200 Metres (1.45/1.45) :
5 runners
Approaching
the 700 metres, ACRILAN (App Ajoy
Roy) suddenly sifted ‘outwards’ over the heels of EVENING MIST (M F Ali Khan)
in spite of the best efforts of the jockey to control his mount.
Passing
the distance post I VE DONE IT (App Mohit Singh)
drifted ‘outwards’ and momentarily inconvenienced SECRET HERO (Vinay Jaiswal). At a subsequent enquiry App Mohit Singh was shown the CCTV replay of the race and fined
a sum of Rs. 1,000/- for failing to keep his mount on an even course. The apprentice was advised to report to Mr. N Bird, the
Jockey Coach for appropriate corrective measures and further informed that should he continue to
ride his mounts in a similar manner, he would be reported to the Stewards for
appropriate action.
The
Veterinary Officer reported that EVENING MIST returned with a bleeding cut
injury on its left hind.
2nd RACE (129) THE ARENDAL HANDICAP – A
Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible (About) 2000 Metres (2.15/2.15) : 6 runners
ASIAN
ROCKET (C Alford) was
fractious while being stalled.
3rd RACE (130) THE AAZISH HANDICAP – A
Handicap for Horses Rated 00-25, which have run at Kolkata having completed the
course since 12th July, 2011 and have not won a race at any centre
since that date – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1000 Metres (2.45/2.45) : 9 runners
THREATONE (Shailesh Shinde) and ALEXA (Pintu Das) were slow to begin.
Some distance after the
start EXPLORER’S QUEST (App Mohit Singh) was
inconvenienced when SCORSESE (App Vikash Tamang) shifted ‘outwards’ and further SCORSESE when approaching the
distance post drifted to the outer portion of the race track. App Vikash Tamang was cautioned to exercise greater control over his
mounts in future.
Passing the distance post
Jockey Jugnu
Gurung, the rider of SILVER GUEST, was fined a sum of
Rs. 1,000/- for the excessive
use of the whip on his mount (1st offence).
Tr.
Vikash Jaiswal when
questioned regarding the improved performance of his charge b g ROYAL COUNTY
DOWN as compared to its previous run in Race No. 121 run on 1st
October, 2011 where it finished unplaced, stated that :-
a)
The gelding was now competing with horses of a similar caliber i.e.,
non-winners.
b)
Jockey Gajender Singh, the rider in Race No.
121, was fined for failing to improve his position and for travelling wide
while negotiating the bend and, therefore, today he had declared a more
competent rider. In his opinion the
above reasoning enabled the gelding to perform better.
The Stipendiary Stewards
while noting his explanations, informed Tr. Vikash Jaiswal that the
performance and running pattern of his charges will be closely monitored.
4th RACE (131) THE GENESIS HANDICAP – For Maiden
Horses 3 years old only, Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible – To be ridden by
Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1000 Metres
(3.15/3.16) : 8 runners
GENTLE
JEWEL (App Mohit Singh) was fractious while being
stalled.
ELUSIVE
THOUGHT (App Ajoy Roy) and PRECIOUS (Sk Israil) were slow to
begin.
Approaching
the 900 metres LAKE SUNRISE (P Trevor) racing fiercely
kept an erratic course and momentarily inconvenienced
MEHZABEEN (Imran Khan) and DIVINE SYMPHONY (Shailesh Shinde) both placed on its outside.
Jockey
N S Parmer, the rider of ch f LA DOMINIQUE , was
fined a sum of Rs. 1,000/- for the injudicious handling of his mount in that
approaching the 800 metres when in clear running, he, for no apparent reason restrained his
mount from making progress thereby placing her in a position of disadvantage. The Stipendiary Stewards informed the jockey
that in this instance they had taken a lenient view and should he in future
ride in a similar manner, he would be appropriately
dealt with.
5th RACE (132) THE ARGUS HANDICAP – A
Handicap for Horses Rated 40-65, Rated 20-45 eligible – (About) 1000 Metres (3.45/3.46) : 6 runners
ROB
N ROB (C Alford) was fractious while being stalled.
OCEAN
CLIPPER (P Trevor) brushed against the running rails approaching the 600 metres.
The
Veterinary Officer reported that OCEAN CLIPPER returned with a bleeding cut
injury on its right stifle.
6th RACE (133) THE MANDOLIN TROPHY – A
Handicap for Horses Rated 80 & above, Rated 60-85 eligible (About) 1400 Metres (4.15/4.15) : 11 runners
Approaching
the 400 metres BRIEF ENCOUNTER (App Mohit Singh) was inconvenienced when AWESOME INDIAN (M Maseyk) travelling along the rails was shifted ‘out’. At a subsequent enquiry Jockey M Maseyk was cautioned to be more careful when attempting to change
course.
Jockey
Md. Shabbani, the rider of SONIC BOOM, was reprimanded for
failing to improve his position in the early and middle stages of the race. Tr. Shafiq Khan was
informed that his charges should run and be ridden in such a manner that leaves
no room for query.
7th RACE (134) : THE SIR AALI HANDICAP –
A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible – To be ridden by
Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1100 Metres
(4.45/4.49) : 8 runners
As
Jockey Surjeet Singh was declared medically unfit to
ride, Tr. Rodrigues Jr. was permitted to substitute
Jockey I Khan to ride his charge ROMANTIC LAD.
BRAVO
ITALIANO (Vinay Jaiswal)
planted and took no practical part in the race.
In view of its behaviour Tr. Vikash Jaiswal was informed not
to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary
Stewards in a mock race.
b g STALKER (Nelson Maseyk) lost
some ground at the start when jumping awkwardly out from the gates and thereafter approaching the 700 metres marker
the jockey was dislodged from his mount.
The
Stewards held an enquiry immediately after the running of the race with
particular reference to the incident of Jockey Nelson Maseyk’s
fall from his mount b g STALKER. After
due enquiry the Stewards being satisfied that the fall was due to the saddle
being displaced and that no blame could be attached to any rider, decided to
hoist the ‘all clear’ signal. The
Stipendiary Stewards interviewed Mr. Patrick Quinn, the trainer of b g STALKER
and fined him a sum of Rs. 1,000/- for faulty saddling.
ROMANTIC
LAD (I Khan) travelled wide while rounding the bend and further drifted to the
outer portion of the race track in the final 300 metres
of the race.
Tr.
D Karki when questioned regarding the improved
performance of his charge b g POLARISER as compared to its previous run in Race
No. 120 run on 27th September, 2011 where it finished unplaced,
stated that :-
a)
He was pleasantly surprised with the performance of his charge as his
stable did not fancy the gelding’s chances to win.
b)
He could give no plausible explanation for its improved performance,
however, stated that in
Race No. 120 the gelding received a check approaching the 400 metres at which time
it was making some progress. This
incident may have had some bearing on its performance.

while noting his explanation informed the trainer that he must endeavour to ensure that his charges run with a degree of
consistency between
runs
The
Veterinary Officer reported that ABAYA returned with a bleeding cut
injury on its right fore.
