CHRISTMAS MEETING, FIRST DAY, SATURDAY, 3^RD DECEMBER, 2011

Penetrometer Reading : 1.4 Cms : Good Going.

False rails were in position from about 1200 metres to about 400 metres.

1^st RACE (42) THE STAR ANGEL PLATE - For Maiden Horses 2 years old only (About) 1100 Metres (12.45/12.47) : 6 runners

2^nd RACE (43) THE BID FOR GOLD HANDICAP – Div I – A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1100 Metres (1.15/1.19) : 11 runners

EBONY PRINCESS (M F Ali Khan), ALL THAT JAZZ (Aadesh Kumar) and KINGSTON (App Arman Khan) were fractious while being stalled.

BREAK THE HABIT (Vinay Jaiswal) and KINGSTON (App Arman Khan) were slow to begin.

Approaching the 600 metres MRS JONES (C Rajendra) travelling along the rails was squeezed for room when OCEAN MYTH (P Trevor) momentarily shifted ‘in’. At a subsequent enquiry both jockeys were interviewed and Jockey P Trevor was advised of the necessity to make every effort to keep his mounts on an even course.

3^rd RACE (44) – THE SAFARI HANDICAP - A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1600 Metres (1.45/1.47) : 8 runners

GENEVIEVE (N S Parmar) which was fractious while being stalled was also slow to begin.

ASHWA GAURAV (App Arman Khan) was slow to begin losing approximately two lengths at the start.

GENEVIEVE (N S Parmar) ran an erratic course under pressure in the final 300 metres of the race. At a subsequent enquiry Jockey N S Parmar was advised of the necessity to make every effort to keep his mounts on a straight course when placing them under pressure.

Jockey B Mahesh, the rider of LOCAL WARRIOR, reported that his mount was not inclined to raise a fluent gallop throughout the race race and finished off the race detached from the field. The horse was impounded for veterinary examination. On examination the Veterinary Officer reported that LOCAL WARRIOR was found to be lame on left fore. Tr. Vikash Jaiswal was advised not to accept with his charge until passed fit by the Veterinary Officer.

4^th RACE (45) THE BOL PUBLICATION TROPHY - A Handicap for Horses Rated 40-65, Rated 20-45 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1600 Metres (2.15/2.15) : 9 runners

ch g BEETHOVEN was withdrawn with the permission of the Stewards as the conditions of the embargo placed against the gelding in its previous run in Race No. 38 held on 26^th November, 2011 had not been fulfilled.

App Arman Khan and Tr. D M David when afforded an opportunity to explain the running of b g SEA WARRIOR, App Arman Khan stated that he was instructed to be positioned 4^th/5^thin the early and middle stages of the race and do his best thereafter. However, the gelding was tardily out of the gate and despite his best efforts to restrain his mount in the instructed position, the gelding got the better of him and hit the front approaching the 800 metres. Tr. D M David corroborated the instructions and stated that he was disappointed that the apprentice was unable to place his charge in the designated positions. The Stipendiary Stewards while noting the explanation, informed the trainer and apprentice that the running and riding of their horses will be closely monitored.

5^thRACE (46) THE HASKELL DAVID MEMORIAL TROPHY – A Handicap for Horses Rated 60-85, Rated 40-65 eligible (About) 2000 Metres (2.45/2.45) : 5 runners

dk b g TINTORETTO (N S Parmar) ran detached from the field. The gelding was impounded for veterinary examination. On examination the Veterinary Officer reported that no ailment was noticed. In view of its performance Tr. D M David was informed not to accept with his charge until shown to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards in a mock race.

The Veterinary Officer reported that ANDROMACHE (Shailesh Shinde) returned bleeding from both nostrils. Tr. Ms. Arti Doctor was advised not to accept with her charge until certified fit by the Veterinary Officer.

6^th RACE (47) THE HONG KONG JOCKEY CLUB TROPHY – For Horses 2 years old only (About) 1200 Metres (3.15/3.17) : 7 runners

AVISION (C Alford) jumped awkwardly from the gates and thereafter approaching the 800 metres was checked by its rider to avoid running into the heels of ABUBBLE (Neeraj Rawal).

Jockey Neeraj Rawal, the rider of ABUBBLE, reported that his mount was inclined to run out during the final stages of the race. Tr. Vijay Singh was advised to take appropriate corrective measures before accepting with it again.

7^th RACE (48) THE ROMANTIC LIAISON TROPHY – For Horses 4 years old and over (About) 1200 Metres (3.45/3.46) : 7 runners

EL TROPICO (C Rajendra) was fractious in its stall.

Soon after the start MUMTAZ (B Sreekanth) was inconvenienced when CAPE FERRAT (Aadesh Kumar) and CARIBBEAN QUEEN (P Trevor) momentarily shifted ‘inwards’.

8^th RACE (49) THE BID FOR GOLD HANDICAP – Div II – A Handicap for Horses Rated 20-45, Rated 00-25 eligible – To be ridden by Jockeys of Indian Nationality (About) 1100 Metres (4.15/4.15) : 11 runners

Soon after the start APOSTROPHE (Imran Khan) was inconvenienced when SUGAR ‘N’ SALT (M Maseyk) momentarily shifted ‘inwards’.

G E N E R A L

Random testing for the presence of alcohol in respect of Jockeys M F Ali Khan, P Trevor, App Arman Khan and App Ajoy Roy was carried out and found to be clear.
Urine samples. Urine samples from the following horses were taken for clinical analysis :-

ARABESK - 1^st Race.

SKYSCRAPER - 4^th Race.

ADRIANO - 5^th Race.

CARIBBEAN QUEEN - 7^th Race.
